A.N. Okay I couldn't really find to much to change in this chapter, but I did add some things and actually finish it the way I wanted.
The reason Harry gave away a copy of his mothers work journal to a complete stranger will be explained in later chapters.
I don't own anything except original concepts. Harry Potter and all it's constituents belong to Mrs. Joanne Murray A.K.A. J.K. Rowling.
Chapter 4: Classes and Diaries
Harry sat in the Great Hall alone while eating his lunch during his free period to avoid
the crowds. Harry couldn’t help but smile as he recalled the first two weeks of his fourth year.
Harry remembered sitting in the dungeons of Hogwarts with an ‘Intermediate Level
Potions’ book sitting open in front of him waiting for the Professor to show. Taking a quick
look to his left Harry couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow as he saw a beautiful blond girl with
sapphire blue eyes. The Harry could tell that the girl already had some decent curves and that
by this time sixth year rolls around she’ll be a definite eye turner. Harry’s eyes were drawn
away from the girl however when the doors to the Potions lab slammed open to reveal Professor
Severus Snape in all his Slytherin glory. Harry sighed as Snape spun around in front of the
classroom.
“Congratulations you’ve passed the most basic of potions making classes and are now in
Intermediate Level Potions. In this class you will be learning how to brew more dangerous and
complex potions like ‘Baruffio’s Brain Elixer’ or the ‘Confusion Concoction’. You will also
learn where and how to acquire these ingredients. Now then turn to page ten in your books. You
have thirty minutes to make the most basic of potions on there.” Snape said and then walked to
the other side of his desk and watched them work. Harry turned to the page Snape had instructed
and started taking note of the ingredients. Harry stood to walk to the cupboard when he heard a
light feminine voice whisper behind him.
“No…no damn it…where is it…Bloody hell I know I put it in here…” Harry turned towards
the voice to see the blond haired girl rummaging through her pack for something. Taking a quick
look at her desk Harry noticed something very obviously missing, her potions knife set. Quickly
making a decision Harry knocked his book on the ground. Grabbing his set, Harry leaned down next
to her bag.
“Here.” Harry said holding up his set to the girl. The blond haired girl glared at
Harry.
“What the hell are you doing Potter?” The girl spat angrily. Harry just smiled at that.
“Look I’m just trying to help take my knife set and I’ll take the fall for forgetting.
Not like Snape can hate me any worse huh?” Harry said making the blond raise an eyebrow.
“What’s in it for you Potter? Looking for a quick shag? I’m not like those Gryffindor
girls who’ll spread their legs for anything with a prick.” The girl said making Harry chuckle.
“Although I’m not against it, I’m not looking for a shag. Lets just go with what you
Slytherin’s say and call this my Hero Complex kicking in.” Harry said making the blond smile and
grab the case of knives. Harry smiled when he saw the girl stand from her seat and walk towards
the cupboard. Harry grabbed his book and sighed.
“Well might as well get this over with.” Harry said to himself and stood from his spot
on the floor. Harry turned towards the desk only to come face to face with a slightly smirking
Snape. Harry went wide eyed as he saw Snape pull a knife set out of his robes and discreetly
place it on Harry’s desk.
“It takes you quite a while to pick up a book Potter? Did all that fame make you stupid?
Stay after class.” Snape said all the while keeping his smirk on his face. Harry smiled
slightly.
“Yes Sir.” Harry replied making Snape give a stiff nod. Thirty minutes later Snape
started walking around the Lab looking at all the potions.
“Weasley? Did your mother drink while Pregnant with you?” Snape asked making Ron go
slightly pale.
“Um…no Sir.” Ron responded only gaining a quick sneer from Snape.
“Then you are just naturally stupid? Fantastic.” Snape said and then walked away causing
Ron’s face to match his hair. Harry couldn’t help but chuckle at that and say to himself.
“Snape’s pretty funny when he’s not pissed at me.” This statement earned him a slight
snort from the blond haired witch next to him. Harry’s smile died on his face when he saw Snape
approach. ‘Great here comes the your stupid like your father speech…” Harry thought as Snape
looked into his cauldron. Looking at the raven-haired boy Snape slightly smirked.
“Exceptional Potter. Although you did cut the Mandrakes root a little thick causing the
potion to be less effective. Keep a closer eye on that next time Potter and you just might make
it into N.E.W.T. Potions.” Snape said making every ones eyes to widen. ‘…or not…’ Harry thought.
Snape finished his rounds just as the bell tolled for the next classes. As everyone filed out of
the classroom to head towards their next class Harry continued to sit at his desk. Just as the
door shut for the last person Snape stood from his seat behind the desk.
“Tell me Potter. Why did you try and take the fall for Miss Greengrass?” Snape asked
causing Harry to sigh.
“Let’s just say that over this summer I’ve learned that not everything is as it appears
and that being ambitious doesn’t mean evil. Just like being brave doesn’t mean being loyal.”
Harry said causing Snape to raise an eyebrow.
“Does this have anything to do with why you weren’t sitting with Granger or Weasley?”
Snape asked causing Harry to chuckle.
“Caught that huh? Yeah that’s part of the reason.” Harry said causing Snape to grow
curious.
“And the other reason Potter? It must have been something big for you to give up on your
hatred of Slytherin’s because of it?” Snape said making Harry smile and reach into his bag.
Snape raised grew confused as Harry pulled out a small leather book.
“This is what really changed my mind on whether Slytherin’s were evil or not.” Harry
said with pride showing in his voice.
“And what is that exactly Potter?” Snape asked making Harry smile softly at the book.
“This Professor is my fathers journal…well a censored version of it.” Harry said making
Snape go wide eyed.
“And why would James’s journal change your mind about Slytherin’s? If I recall James
hated Slytherins more then anybody?” Snape asked making Harry smile widely this time.
“Maybe you should read it Professor. My father really wasn’t all he seemed to be.” Harry
said and them laid the journal on the desk in front of him. Snape looked at the book the lay on
Harry’s desk.
“You may go Potter.” Snape said making Harry stand and walk out of the lab, James’s
journal still sitting on his desk. Snape stepped around his desk and walked over to the leather
bound book. Picking it up off the desk Snape cracked it open to the first page and started
reading.
It had been two days since that conversation in the potions lab and now Harry was
walking towards the Charms classroom on his only free period.
“Man I swear I’m never going to be able to finish if I keep getting distracted.” Harry
said to himself as he knocked on the door to Flitwick’s classroom.
“Yes come in!” A wizened voice said from behind the door. Harry opened the door to the
classroom the see the seventh year Ravenclaws as well as the Seventh year Beauxbaton’s students.
Looking at the short man that stood on the podium in the front of the classroom Harry smiled.
“You called for me Professor?” Harry said making the old man smile.
“Oh yes Mr. Potter Come in come in. Um Now then student’s why don’t you work on the
‘Flamma’ charm while I talk to Mr. Potter, and do be careful not to blow anything up.” Flitwick
said making Harry smile. Flitwick motioned Harry forward towards the front of the class. When
Harry was standing next to the little Professor the man asked.
“Now Then Mr. Potter I’m sure you’re confused as to why I called you am I right?”
Flitwick asked making Harry smile.
“Sir I’m more concerned that out of all the time you could call me it had to be during
my free period…couldn’t have gotten me out of History of Magic huh?” Harry said making the small
half-goblin chuckle.
“Yes I do apologize about that Mr. Potter, but I’m afraid Mr. Binns wouldn’t be to happy
if I were to do that.” Flitwick said making Harry raise an eyebrow.
“When is Professor Binns ever happy?” Harry said making the little man chuckle.
“Yes I see where you’re coming from Mr. Potter. However about why I called you here, you
see I would like to see if I can help Miss Hedwig refine her…what did you call it? Telekinesis?”
Flitwick said making Harry nod.
“Yes well I think that her telekinesis is a lot like the Wingardium Leviosa spell. That
being said I was hoping maybe I could help her control it more.” Flitwick continued making Harry
smile.
“Sure Professor, but I’m going to have to be there when you are with her. I hope you
don’t think I don’t trust you sir it’s just that I’m sure you heard what happened and I’d hate
to have to loose another friend to an accident if I could help it.” Harry said making the short
man smile.
“Of course Mr. Potter now then if you would like we could meet here either while my
students are working on their spells and every other weekend to work on Miss Hedwig’s magic. Now
then I have some time now if you would like to go and get her.” Flitwick said making Harry
chuckle.
“There’s no need to go get her Sir. Hedwig!” Harry said causing a swirl of snow and
frigid wind to enter the room. As the snow and wind died down everyone turned to see a solid
white owl perched on Harry’s shoulder.
‘Yes Harry Human? Oh Flitwick Human is here. Does that mean I get to get trained by
Flitwick Human?’ Hedwig asked causing Harry to chuckle.
“Yes Hedwig you get to be taught by Professor Flitwick. Now be nice and don’t loose my
house any points.” Harry said drawing a soft trill from the snowy owl. As the short Professor
walked away with his avian friend Harry turned towards the class and watched what they were
doing. Harry couldn’t help but chuckle as he heard some of the Beauxbaton’s Girl glare at their
wands when the charm wouldn’t work, and the Ravenclaws were reading everything there was to know
about the charm in the book. Harry looked at the chalkboard that held the name and instructions
for the charm. After reading the instructions and the properties behind the spell Harry reached
into the bag at his side. Pulling out another leather bound book this one had a silver stag
standing proudly over a field of lilies. Thumbing through the pages of the book Harry stopped
and started looking from the board towards the page. Harry looked from the board to the pages a
couple of times before standing. Harry placed the open book on the podium and grabbed a piece of
chalk. The seventh year students stared incredulously as Harry started writing and marking out
things on the board.
“Mr. Potter! What are you doing?” A squeaky wizened voice said from beside him. Harry
finished marking out one of the key points Flitwick wrote and then turned towards the small
professor.
“The charm that you have these seventh years working on isn’t hard at all. In fact if it
weren’t for the way that books explains how to do it. It would have been a first year charm.”
Harry said gaining an incredulous look from both the students and Professor Flitwick.
“Look at zis leetle boy acting like ‘e know what ‘e eez talking about.” A feminine voice
said from the front of the room. Looking towards the voice Harry saw a tall blond haired woman.
The woman was wearing the blue standard issue Beauxbaton’s uniform. Harry took notice of her
full lips and her light blue eyes. As Harry looked her over Harry couldn’t help but smirk.
“It’s not an act there love. The spell is rather simple to perform if done correctly
it’s just that the way that book says to do it, the charm becomes unstable and either looses too
much power when being cast or it drains too much and explodes. However should you have let me
finish what I was writing you all would have had it by now.” Harry said making the beautiful
blond glare at him slightly.
“Prove eet.” The French woman said making Harry smirk and look towards Flitwick.
“May I professor?” Harry asked making the half goblin smile.
“Why not Mr. Potter I’m curious if what you say is true.” The man said slightly anxious.
Harry pulled his wand from within his robe and spun it between the fingers of his right hand.
Harry snapped his wand forward violently.
“Flamma!” As that word passed Harry’s lips a compact ball of fire shot out of his wand
and flew rapidly at quill sitting on the French beauty’s desk. Everyone watched as the flames
burned the quill but didn’t even leave a mark on the wooden desk. Harry smirked and started
spinning his wand between his fingers again.
“Any other questions?” Harry asked all the while inwardly chuckling.
“Mr. Potter that was Fantastic! How did you figure out how to get the spell to
stabilize?” Flitwick asked making Harry give a small smile.
“Professor to tell you the truth. I didn’t figure anything out.” Harry said making the
half-goblin raise an eyebrow.
“Oh then who taught this to you I would love to compare notes with someone who is so
gifted in charms!” Flitwick said excitedly making the smile fall from Harry’s face.
“As would I professor…as would I.” Harry said making the small professor confused.
“Is everything alright Mr. Potter?” Flitwick asked in concerned. Harry grabbed the
leather bound book off the podium and handed it to the short man.
“Look at the first page.” Harry said confusing the small man. Opening the small book the
man instantly understood, as on the first page of the book were four simple words.
‘Property of Lily Potter’
Handing the book back to the boy Flitwick nodded.
“Why don’t you go and visit your friend Dobby, Mr. Potter. I’ll make sure Miss Hedwig
doesn’t get hurt.” Flitwick said drawing a small smile from the boy. Harry grabbed the book and
started walked towards the door. Just as Harry’s hand grasped the doorknob Flitwick’s voice
stopped him.
“Just so you know Mr. Potter…she really was my favorite student…I miss her as well.”
Harry couldn’t help but let a tear fall from his eye as he heard that. Calming his voice Harry
responded.
“Thank you sir…that means a lot.” With those words Harry left the room. Everyone’s eyes
turned towards the short professor in confusion.
“Professor? If Harry Potter didn’t fix the charm then who did?” A short Ravenclaw
student asked. Flitwick smiled sadly at that question.
“Ladies and gentlemen you should really smile on this day, because you got to see
something that hasn’t been seen in over a decade and will possibly never bee seen again. You
just got a lesson by the greatest Charms Mistress to ever live…Lily Evans Potter is the one who
just taught you that charm.” Flitwick said making everyone in the room go wide-eyed. Later that
day in the Great Hall dinner was just coming to an end, and at the Beauxbaton’s table a
beautiful blond woman was still angry about the Charms class. Everyone from Hogwarts was giving
the girl strange looks of confusion, but her friend’s and sister couldn’t help give her a wide
breadth as the girl ranted.
“’ow dare zat leettle boy! Just showing up and zen embarrassing me like zat! I mean I am
ze best charms student Beauxbaton’s ‘as ‘ad in years!” Fleur ranted making her friend Mary
laugh.
“Fleur you are an amazing Charms student, but even you are no match for someone like
Lily Potter.” Marry said back. Fleur was about to start in again when a heavenly smell wafted
into her nose. Looking towards the smell Fleur couldn’t help but go wide eyed as sitting on her
plate was a small dish of Crème Brulee and a Chocolate Éclair. Sitting on the edge of the plate
was a folded card. Picking up the card Fleur expected it to be from one of the boys trying to
get her attention. When she started reading however she couldn’t have been more surprised.
Dear…well I don’t know your name,
I’m writing this letter to apologize about being a know-it-all git during your charms
class today. I really shouldn’t have done that as it made you look bad, and for that I’m sorry.
I made some of the more Popular French desserts in hopes of a peace offering. I would also like
to say that you are quite good at charms and since I was such a prat to you I’d like to make it
up to you by giving you a copy of my mums first work journal. In it are the first charms she
ever made as well as the charm she used to become a Charms mistress. I hope you put them to
better use then I could.
Sincerest apologies,
Harry Potter
Fleur looked down at her plate and went wide-eyed as she saw it sitting on a leather
bound book. Picking up the plate Fleur grabbed the book that sat under it. Thumbing through the
book Fleur went wide-eyed as she saw some of the most complex charms she had ever seen.
“Well who eez eet from? Anozer boy wiz a crush right?” Gabriella said only to get a
shake of the head from her sister. This response made Gabriella go wide-eyed.
“If not zen what eez eet for?” Marry asked only for Fleur smile.
“Eet eez an apology…from zee boy I ‘ave been picking on since zis morning.” Fleur said
making the two girls go wide-eyed.
“’arry Potter gave you zat?” Marry asked making Fleur nod her head.
“Zen zat eez?” Gabriella asked pointing to the book in Fleur’s hands causing Fleur to
nod.
“’Eez Mozers Journal.” Fleur said making the two girls stare in amazement. Looking up
Fleur saw Harry standing in front of the head table laughing with Hagrid. Fleur smiled at the
boy and only one word came to mind.
“Merci.” As that single word passed her lips a smile came across Harry’s.
James Journal Entry One
Yes I’m finally here! Hogwarts! I just got back from the opening feast and my god was
there a lot of food. Oh and I have some exciting news I made some friends!
First is Sirius Black. He’s really cool and loves to prank as much as I do. He’s not
like the rest of his family, all dark and stuff. Although he’s really cool he’s also pretty
smooth. I was impressed when he was able to weasel us out of getting hexed by Lily Evans. Man I
thought that little spitfire was going to shot fire at me or something! Seriously Sirius is cool
though Haha you see what I did there! Hehe sorry couldn’t help myself.
Next there’s Remus Lupin. He’s really smart and I get the feeling he’s going to be the
voice of reason with our little group. Just a feeling you know? Although he is really smart he’s
also kinda sickly. I mean he was all pale and panting today. What ever I guess he’ll be fine.
Next is Peter Pettigrew. He’s kinda cool to hang out with, but I swear I thought he was
going to walk up mine and Sirius’s ass when we were walking to the dorms today. Although even
with that he’s still really cool and came up with a couple of ideas for pranks.
Lastly is Serverus Snape. Well I wouldn’t call us friends really, but I could definitely
see him as a pranking buddy. I mean seriously the man has a quick mind, and he’s kinda funny
when he’s not trying to pick at me.
Yeah those four are really cool although they seem rather lonely. I mean sure Mum always
said I was born with a silver spoon in my mouth, but how bad did they really have it? All well I
figure I’ll get it out of them with time.

gifted in charms!” Flitwick said excitedly making the smile fall from Harry’s face.
