I doubt Harry's name coming out of the Goblet is going to result in nearly as much negative press as in canon. I doubt St. Tristians would send students to compete in a competition with a nasty habit of KILLING THE STUDENTS SELECTED. One must remember that the tournament was canceled because of the death toll after all. But between Sirius being free and clear (and thus able to swing about the massive club that is the Black fortune), but Harry probably not going to be PRESENT at any point to even see the cup at Hogwarts will lend credance to his claims of innocence.
