"It must just be these beds..." The voice was my wake up call.
"Makes you sleep too long," I rolled over in the bed, away from the
voice, muttering:

"Shut up, let me sleep,"

"Are you getting up or do I have to drag you out?" I groaned.

"You have to drag me," I felt two hands roll me over. I shouted in
alarm as I looked at the long drop to the floor from half way off the bed.
"All right! All right!" I called, scrambling back. I looked up at
Mikey. "You've been waiting ages to do that haven't you?" He nodded,
grinning.

Muttering under my breath, I got up and stretched. Taking a scathing look at
Mikey, I headed away from the bunks.

I was unsurprised to find that Gerard had been demoted from the sofa to the
floor.

I simply smiled at the sight before looking around.

"Where is everyone?" I asked.

"Out at stage preps. I should be going, but someone had to stay and wake
you up," I smiled, turning to look at Mikey.

"Well go then," I said after a few moments.

"Oh, yeah!" He said, rushing from the bus.

After looking around for a while, trying to figure out what I was doing, I
decided to wake the now snoring form on the floor.

I giggled as I ran the tap, hearing the snoring behind me get louder. The
aspirin bottle had only two left, so I made a mental note to add it to the list
while running a glass under the tap.

Glass and aspirin in hand, I sat on the sofa, placing them on the nearest flat
surface before staring down at the snoring Gerard. I smiled and shook my head
before shaking his shoulder. All that happened was that he tried,
unsuccessfully, to roll over.

Shaking him again caused the same affect.

I sighed, standing and moving so I could grab both shoulders to shake, shouting
at him. Even that didn't work.

Standing straight, I turned and grabbed the glass of water. I looked back down
at Gerard.

"Sorry," was all I said before upturning the glass of water above him.

Well, it woke him up. Even if that was at the cost of falling over.

I just sat on the floor, giggling, glass still in hand. Watching him stare
around bewildered made me giggle harder. Finally he spotted me on the floor and
frowned
before rubbing his head, wiping the water from it.

Still giggling, I stood up, running another glass before handing it to him.

"You all right?" I asked, taking a seat on the sofa.

"Why do you care?" My smile left from giggling faded somewhat,
replaced by a frown.

"Why shouldn't I?" He shrugged as he downed the aspirin.

"I just get this feeling you're not that keen on me," He answered,
taking a few deep breaths before standing.

"I care for you as much as I do everyone else..."

"You don't talk to me," He said sounding irritated as he placed the
now empty glass somewhere in the kitchen area. I did a pretty good goldfish
impression for a few moments, watching Gerard hobble over and collapse in his
bunk.

Finally, after I'd thought of something to say, anger rose. I stood abruptly and
stormed over to the bunks, standing staring down at him.

"I don't talk to you because you're half drunk all the time! How am I meant
to talk to a guy who's so far drunk he's coming back and can only manage two
words: 'hit me'?" He stared up at me for a moment. "No, I didn't think
you'd have an answer for that," I snapped, heading to my bag and grabbing
my purse and coat. "I'm off out to fetch a few bits, I'll be back to go to
the show!" I called back angrily before leaving the tour bus.

--------------------------

I didn't get back, carrying three bags, until just after the show...but you
know, only just...okay, that's a lie. I'd ended up passing a gym that had a
swimming pool and I just couldn't pass up the chance to get a shower...

...That then turned into swimming laps...

...That then became unwinding by diving off the top diving board...

...That finally became a shower...

I know what you're thinking: 'Surely that wouldn't take that long!' Well, it
didn't. Maybe I kind of stopped at Starbucks for an hour or so. Fortunately,
through my caffeine high, I had managed to tell myself going back wouldn't be a
good idea. Last time I drank so much coffee, my friend ended up with a black
eye. According to her for saying my jeans had a chocolate stain on them.

So as you may be able to tell, I was delaying my return as much as possible.

By the time I bounded up the stairs of the tour bus on the tail end of my
caffeine high, everyone was back.

"Don't ask," Was the first thing I said, setting the bags down on the
counter. I turned to the group sat on the sofa. "What?" I counted
everyone. "Where's Gerard?" I asked, frowning. They looked at each
other.

"Out..." I took a deep breath, rubbing my forehead.

--------------------------

Late that night, giving in waiting for him to come back, I fell asleep. My sleep
didn't last long...

I was woken by heavy footsteps fumbling through the tour bus. Slowly, I rolled
over.

Sighing with relief, I heaved myself up, stepping over to Gerard. He was more
sober than I had expected.

"You all right?" I asked, cringing in case he reacted like last time.
He frowned but nodded.

"I'm fine," He said, yawning.

"Good," I said before slapping him on the shoulder.

"What was that for?"

"Don't scare me - us - like that again!" I said, slapping him again.
He smiled, laughing slightly. "Don't laugh, I'm being serious!"

"I'm sorry," He said, barely succeeding in not smiling. I raised my
hand to slap him again, but just frowned playfully. He yawned again.
"Bed," I said, pointing to the bunks.

"Yes mother,"

"Well if I don't look after you, who will?" I said to his retreating
back.

"I can look after myself," he whispered across the bus as he reached
the bunks. I snorted.

"Yeah right," I whispered back. He clambered into his bunk.

"Right," He said, closing the curtain. Shaking my head, I settled
myself back onto the sofa, wondering what had just happened...
