Wow. Jem is one of the old cartoons that I never want to rewatch, specifically because I'll see it as something half-done and half-tried by people who deliberately skipped quality because they figured that kids were too dumb to know the difference. In all fairness, I didn't notice at the time.
This is more like the Jem I remember, however inaccurately, the one that had songs with meaning. Kimber's petulance and perfectionism makes it through quite well and you've put in a good nod to the random pop fluff that made up almost all of their music.
