Well, it's kind of Gerard 'hallucinating' what the... 'Figure'... described is doing and feeling, due to the cocaine, so he is feeling and experiencing what she is feeling even though he is lying on a hotel bed in Tokyo dying. Like a dream, but in real time.
Like Harry Potter where he can see what Voldemort is doing and feeling.
