Chapter 4
"I can explain!" Timmy had started off with a lie and felt like a bad omen. He really couldn't explain. If he denied that anything happened no one would believe him. The truth sounded like a lie and if he lied and said something did happen between him and Vicky it would sound like the truth. He wasn't planning to admit a lie, not that it mattered anyway.
Mrs. Turner was crying, her words muffled and hard to understand. She was saying something about Timmy throwing his life away by having a family before he was ready.
Timmy felt guilty but at the same time noted that his mother might be overacting. He felt his face heat up when he realized that she had assumed that they had, not only crossed the line in that hotel room, but that Vicky was inevitably pregnant, when in fact nothing happened. The entire time, Vicky was working on the stock market on her computer and Timmy was watching TV. "Mom, it's not like that."
"I'm too young to be a grandmother!" Mrs. Turner cried.
Timmy could only hug his mother and try to console her quietly because she just wouldn't listen to reason, albeit admittedly, reason was hard to believe.
"There, there, it'll be alright," Mr. Turner seemed to be taking it better than his wife. "I'm sure Timmy was smart enough to use protection."
Timmy face became redder, "nothing happened! We didn't do anything, that's just the press making up stories to trash Vicky's reputation!"
"I'm sure that's exactly what happened," Mr. Turner grinned and winked. It was obvious he was only pretending to believe Timmy for the sake of calming his wife.
Timmy was feeling angry, frustrated, aggravated, and every other negative emotion in-between. It didn't help that his mother insisted that she had seen proof of their kiss. That much did happen, but no one would believe him if he said that was all.
Finally Mr. Turner adopted a serious expression for his wife's sake. "Timmy, liking older women is fine, and you are eighteen but try not to make your mother worry. Instead of going to a hotel room, why don't you invite Vicky to spend the night over here?" Mrs. Turner elbowed her husband. "What? I thought it would make you feel better if they were here."
Timmy's mother tried to calm her crying and speak clearly enough to be understood, "Timmy, this is going too fast, please understand that I'm worried about you. My only consolation is that you weren't with some stranger, this is Vicky after all, the same Vicky we entrusted you to since..." She paused, face growing pale. "What there something going on since then?"
"What?!" Timmy looked horrified. "Of course not!"
Mrs. Turner sighed in relief, at least she believe that part. "Of course, of course, the flame was sparked recently, after being apart for so many years and meeting again to see each other in a new light. That's all very romantic and everything but please take it slowly, don't mistake friendship and affection for love."
Timmy could feel himself twitching, and he worried that anything he said was used against him. "I... I'm tired; I want to get some sleep."
Mrs. Turner nodded, "think about it tomorrow." She kissed her son's forehead like she did when he was a small child. Back then she had to bend over for that, but now she stood on the tip of her toes to reach. Maybe she just wasn't ready to let go of her little boy yet, "sweet dreams."
"Have sweet, hot dreams Timmy!" Mr. Turner cheered, receiving a glare from his wife which immediately silenced him.
After getting away from his parents, Timmy mulled over the recent events and their consequences. "This will all get old fast and the press will find someone else to bother, right?"
Cosmo and Wanda appeared in their fairy forms floating above Timmy's bed where he laid staring at the ceiling. "Sure it will!" Cosmo sounded sure of it, though he barely knew what was going on.
"I'm sure things will work out somehow..." Wanda was obviously worried. She was worried not only about the rumors, but also about what Vicky witnessed and the fact that Timmy had to keep an eye on her because of her knowledge of fairies, though it seemed that she had disregarded it quite easily. If that was the case, then maybe her memories could be ignored if she was convinced they were illusions and Timmy would be able to stop watching her. That would certainly make it easier for the rumors to finally stop.
"Puny fairies!" It was the unmistakable voice of Jorgen Von Strangle poofing into existance.
Timmy got to his feet in a hurry, remembering why he ended up in that situation with Vicky in the first place. If he had fled the scene after Vicky was knocked out he wouldn't have gotten into this mess. "Any news?" He longed for this to be over. Maybe they would erase everyone's memories about the rumors along with Vicky's memories about the fugitive. It was a long shot, but the last thing one lost was hope, and Timmy still held on to his.
"Puny human," Jorgen finally acknowledged Timmy presence as if he was so puny in his eyes, that Jorgen had not seen him before. "You'll have to keep Vicky under surveillance. Don't forget that it was because you caused all that chaos at Blonda's party that all the fairies assigned to security had to head there and there was no one left to guard the criminal, so he escaped."
"So I let the mythological animals animals out of the petting zoo," Timmy was surprised that she had a petting zoon in the first place, Blonda didn't strike him as the type to like animals, though he guessed she had them bring the petting zoo for the sake of being able to say that her party had everything. "Blonda was being mean to Wanda, that's why I did it. Besides, Blonda exaggerated when she said it the biggest emergency ever when she simply broke a nail. Besides, that guy had already committed the murder before then, I saw it all on Fairy World late night TV. He always carries that severed head around, and its always dripping blood as if it's been ripped off a few seconds ago, but it actually happened months ago."
"Be quiet puny human!" Jorgen screamed, Timmy assumed his parents would think it was the TV because there was no way they wouldn't hear that. "During his captivity we couldn't figure out what he was, he's not a regular anti-fairy. We needed more time for the researches to analyze the DNA sample we took, but they found something and now it all makes sense. You made a mess of everything Timmy Turner and you'll pay the price, but first you'll have to fix this. You're here by ordered to keep watch on Vicky, when the time is right he will go to her." With that said Jorgen disappeared.
"Wait! What does that mean, what will happen and when?" Timmy's question remained without an answer. Jorgen did reveal what the fairy scientists found, if they had actually made progress in their investigation, the mystery of the severed head was still a mystery and Timmy did not like Jorgen's last few words. "This must mean that the killer will go to Vicky." It make no sense for the fugitive to kill her, if he did not want her to know about him then why did he use black magic to prevent fairy magic being erasing her memories? The reason for that unexpected action was yet to be revealed, and Timmy had a feeling that it was a key point to figuring out what that being was, and his purpose other than random killings.
