Sam's POV
Later that night, my lightheartedness gone, I lay awake on the lower bunk bed wearing a huge, .borrowed T-shirt, my face throbbing. Mikey snored slightly above me. I had been subjected to several hours worth of lying still while doctors sewed my face up. I was told off several times for flinching and screwing my face up, but hey, needles terrify me. I had almost cried when I saw their handiwork; ugly black thread that criss-crossed over my pale skin. Gerard and I spent the whole journey back shuddering at the thought of needles, while Mikey laughed at us for being wusses. When the painkillers finally kicked in, and I was allowed to sleep, I had had nightmares, terrifing dreams that involved knives being flung at me in the dark. I jerked awake, screaming. Mikey awoke instantly, fumbling for his glasses. Gerard came running in too, looking scared. "What happened? Are you OK?" I nodded, heart pounding, and said "Bad dream." I could never go back to sleep after a nightmare. Mikey and Gerard said they'd stay awake until I'd fallen asleep. I was touched, but I could see that they were hanging, so I feigned sleep until they went back to bed. All was quiet again. I glanced at my watch, which read 12:03am.

Mikey's POV
I woke up to the sound of Sam screaming. I shot up, feeling around for my goddamn glasses in the dark. Gerard came running in too. "Bad dream." She said. I could almost see her heart fluttering in her chest like a trapped bird. I said we'd stay awake until she fell back asleep, and Gee agreed. She fell asleep pretty quick, luckily. Although I had tried not to make it obvious, I was really sleepy, and had to stifle a few yawns. Once I was sure she had fallen asleep, I followed suit.

Sam's POV
I made my way downstairs and put on The Nightmare Before Christmas, volume turned way down. The Way brothers never woke up before 9:00 at weekends, so at 10 to I crept back upstairs. I pretended to have slept, hastily messing up my hair. Ten minutes later... "Morning." Mikey groaned, still more asleep than awake. I smiled back with what I hoped was a suitably sleepy expression. "Morning." We made our way downstairs for coffee, to see Gerard already up and dressed, coffee in hand, watching cartoons. I pretended to faint with shock, and Gerard flipped me off. I stuck my tongue out. "Isn't that a little childish?" He asked rolling his eyes. "Pot kettle black." I smirked, gesturing to the TV. He sighed and offered me some of his coffee. "Hey! What about me? I'm your brother!" Mikey cried indignantly. Gerard shrugged. "Sam's a guest." Mikey opened his mouth to argue. "And she's a girl." He said, as though that ended the matter. "Sexist!" I giggled. "If you don't want it..." Mikey grinned, lunging at me. "Hey, hey, I never said that!" I laughed, hastily drinking some, then yelling "Ow! Ow!" As I burned my tongue. "Karma!" Mikey cried dramatically." The rest of the morning passed in pretty much the same way, with Gerard depriving Mikey of coffee, Mikey complaining about being deprived coffee, and me drinking the last of the coffee while they fought over who should get the last cup. We then went to get my clothes and personal stuff. Luckily, my mum was out, so I didn't have to confront her face to face. She had left a note, addressed to me, saying "If you come back here, I want you to know that you are nothing to me. I am no longer your mother, and I never want to see your face again. From now on, we lead seperate lives. You don't bother me, and I don't have to be bothered with you." Mother, don't make me laugh. When was she ever a decent mother? I felt free knowing she'd never bother me again.

Gerard's POV
I woke up early for a change, and decided to go down and get the first of many coffees. I switched on some random cartoons. At round about 9:00am Mikey and Sam stumbled downstairs, still half asleep. When she saw me up, Sam pretended to faint in shock. I gave her the finger, and she stuck her tongue out. "Isn't that a little childish?" I questioned, rolling my eyes. "Pot kettle black." She smirked, pointing to the TV. I sighed. "Coffee?" I asked, holding out my mug as a peace offering."Hey! What about me? I'm your brother!" Mikey yelled, incensed. I shrugged. "Sam's a guest." Mikey started to argue. "And she's a girl." I said, hoping he'd catch on to the 'case closed' tone of my voice. "Sexist!" Sam giggled. "If you don't want it..." Mikey dived at her. "Hey, hey, I never said that!" She laughed. She drank too fast, and cried "Ow! Ow!" As she burned her mouth.
"Karma!" Mikey cried melodramatically, pointing at Sam threateningly. The morning progressed with me not letting Mikey get to the kitchen to make himself coffee, and him complaining about it. Sam had drunk it all anyway by the time I let Mikey go.
