Chapter Four
"Conrad!" Yuri ran full speed, spotting the man who named him in a far off corner of the castle.
"Yuri!" Conrad was alarmed. "What happened?"
Yuri took a moment to catch his breath, tension hanging heavily in the air. "Wolfram... he said he liked me then he... he broke up with me, he said he rejected my proposal."
Conrad mused over the unexpected development. "How do you feel about that?"
"That's the thing, I don't know and it's driving me crazy. I should be happy to be free of the engagement but I don't want to hurt Wolfram and I..." Yuri paced around in front of Conrad. "I messed up didn't I?"
"Yuri, if you like Wolfram it's not strange or wrong, or inappropriate; not here and not on Earth in this day and age. If that's how you feel don't deny it and if it's not, be honest with Wolfram and somehow he'll understand. He might be upset at first but he'll come to understand. I can speak to mother about canceling the wedding..." Conrad offered.
Yuri shook his head. "For now just postpone it. I've been running away from this for a long time, and when the date of the wedding finally approached it hit me like an out of the park home run. I think I can sort it out, I have to try."

"Wolfram!" Yuri had finally found him, sitting on the bed they shared, staring off into the distance. "I've been looking for you all over the castle!"
"I came to move my things out of your room," Wolfram did have a room of his own, but many of his things remained in Yuri's room for convenience and because it was to become his room anyway. However, even if Wolfram had gone to move his things out, he had done nothing more than just sit there.
Yuri sat down next to Wolfram and tried to figure out what he felt for the other boy. After labeling the thought of them together as more than just an engagement in name only as being impossible, Yuri had the reason he needed to ignore such thoughts and focus on his duties as the Maoh. Now that Yuri knew beyond doubts and misunderstandings how Wolfram felt, he found that it was time to face his own feelings. Yuri did have feelings for Wolfram, he realized how obvious he was, yet at the same time unaware.
Any other boy wouldn't have put up with being called the fiancé of Wolfram if he wasn't okay with that deep down, nor would he share a bed with the pretty boy, even if they didn't do anything except sleep. Pretty boy... Yes, that was what Yuri thought when he first saw Wolfram, for a moment he just stared enthralled, before reminding himself that he was staring at another male. Yuri found himself wondering why exactly he was okay with being so close to Wolfram, why the thought of hurting him was so painful, other than his dislike for hurting others, why he didn't ask Conrad to talk Cecile into canceling the wedding, and why was he sitting there expecting Wolfram to suddenly say the engagement could not be broken after all.
Yuri closed his eyes, tempted to open them when he felt a pair of hands, no doubt belonging to Wolfram, on his shoulders. He wondered when exactly he had stopped truly feeling awkward and started feeling comfortable, with the only source of discomfort being the little voice in the back of his mind telling him that this was odd, and not quite right. But the little voice had finally disappeared and nothing was stopping Yuri from lying down and relaxing. He opened his eyes slightly to the image of Wolfram staring down at him hovering above him. "I accept."
Wolfram blinked, "you accept what?"
"Your proposal," Yuri replied, honestly amused by Wolfram's surprised reaction.
Wolfram remembered when he hit Yuri in the symbol of a marriage proposal. Wolfram might have rejected Yuri's proposal at last, but his proposal still remained unanswered. "But that wasn't..."
"So what?" Yuri at last felt as if thing were falling into place, yet they were almost where they had started, almost. "My proposal was like that too and you agreed to it for a long time."
"Wimp," maybe that was Wolfram's way to say he was happy; or maybe things were falling back into normalcy again.
Yuri laughed, he had gone in one big circle on to end up where he was before, but with a certain understanding that he didn't have before, so maybe he did move forward.
"What's so funny?" Wolfram grabbed a pillow and hit Yuri with it. "Are you mocking me?" He hit Yuri with the pillow over and over.
"Wolfram!" Yuri tried to shield himself and finally reached for another pillow to launch a counter attack.
The battle continued until both boys called it a tie and put their fluffy weapons down. "Yuri..."
"Yes?" Yuri and Wolfram were laying on the large bed next to each other staring at the ceiling.
Wolfram turned on his side to look at Yuri. "How do you feel about me?"
Feeling the movement, Yuri turned to look at Wolfram and froze hearing the question he had been avoiding. Though Yuri couldn't deny that Wolfram had been attractive in his eyes from the moment he saw him, even if he told himself so many times in the past that such thoughts should never cross his mind, the feelings had evolved and were locked away and even feared; and now that Yuri wanted to face them he was having a little trouble tearing down the barriers he had set up himself.
"Conrad once told me that when I need an answer I should give an answer," Wolfram continued.
Yuri chuckled. "He told me the same thing."
"He would... Anyway, I'll tell you again..." Wolfram wasn't sure he wanted to repeat his feelings so directly but if he wanted a straight answer from Yuri he had to do it. It wasn't easy, Wolfram knew that first hand, then for a wimp like Yuri it had to be harder. A long silence passed and Wolfram had not yet said anything. Unable to deal with the tension any longer, he pulled Yuri into a kiss.
Yuri was surprised at first. Even if he knew of Wolfram's feelings, he didn't think the approach would be so direct. At first Yuri was too shocked to react, his mind and heart racing, hidden feelings surfacing and he didn't just see Wolfram as just another boy, Yuri saw him as Wolfram, someone whom he cared for. After the kiss ended, the awkward silence threatened to return until Yuri broke it. "I guess sometimes it's better to show than to tell?"
"You could say it is," Wolfram replied, taking note of Yuri's reaction, the look in his eyes, the fact that he wasn't upset, and he had accepted the proposal.
Yuri didn't feel as worried as he thought he would, it was more as if he was relived that all the bottled up tension between them was finally being let out. Yuri pulled Wolfram into a close hug.
"Yuri..." Wolfram whispered.
"It's better to show than to tell, remember?" Without holding back, finally accepting feelings that had been locked away for a long time, Yuri kissed Wolfram.
The three maids that were peeking in though the inch wide opening of the door sighted happily and quickly, but quietly closed the door completely when they noticed Gunter passing by. "Where is his majesty?"
"He's taking a nap," the three girls whispered in unison, and went about their way pretending that was exactly what was going on behind the doors to the Maoh's room.
"In that case no one should bother him," Gunter didn't want Yuri to become too exhausted. Yet ironically later that day the Maoh seemed quite tired, as if his nap had drained more energy than what it had restored.

Disclaimer, I do not own Kyo Kara Maoh. Today I'm celebrating having made 2000 pixels for my Reno shrine and pixel collection site. It's Final Fantasy VII, which has nothing to do with this fandom, but having 2000 little pixels makes me want to do something to celebrate, and so I decided to update all my stories on the same day. It took a while to get everything ready to be posted at the same day but here it is. If you want to visit my Reno shrine there is a link on my profile. It has pixels, graphics, information and printables.
