“Help!” I screamed.

It was supposed to be just another night in Newark, New Jersey. New Jersey was dangerous, I understood that from past experiences and that’s why I am where I am now. My name is Frank, Frank Iero. I’m 22, and this is my city… I guess you could say. I didn’t have much though. Working part time at a record store just gave me enough money for food and clothing, but I never had enough money to rent, let alone buy my own house. I usually spent my nights at the community center or youth clinics of sorts when I wasn’t in hospital. I have a really bad immune system and am extremely prone to injury. Life in general has been better though. I hadn’t had a run-in like this for almost a year now, but that was going to change.

“Shut up you fucker. No one is gonna help you.” One of the men was pointing a gun at me, point blank range.
“Give us all the cash you’ve got or we’ll kill you.” The other one threatened.

I had no other choice really. I stopped resisting, but they continued to punch and kick me after stripping me of my clothes and belongings. They were probably disappointed because I had less than fifty bucks on me. As they kicked the front and back of my legs, I collapsed to the floor, left to die. I wouldn’t die from the cuts and bruises though; I would die from the extreme cold. It was late December and the temperatures fell below zero, fast. I was struggling to remain conscious, to try and find someone to help me.

Each minute seemed like an hour, lying half naked on the street, bleeding. Few people passed me on the sidewalks, though, if they did, they stared in horror and disgust and either walked faster, or just ignored me. I even saw a police car pass by, me still unnoticed.

“H-h-help… me…” I stuttered, trying to stay awake.
“Oh my god…” A man passed by this time and actually stopped to help me. I didn’t know how long it had been, but it was better than nothing. “W-what happened to you?”
“R-robbers… T-thank… you…”
“We better get you inside,” He said, offering his jacket.

We walked to his car, and then I sat in the backseat, bundled up in his leather jacket as we drove.

“By the way… my name is Gerard… Way. Just so you know…”
“I’m Frank… Frank Iero.”

I stepped into his house and he told me to go sit on the stool in the bathroom. He showed me where it was; I did as told. Gerard disappeared for a minute, and returned with a few washcloths, a towel and a first-aid kit. He ran a cloth under water for a while, and put the towel over my back as he started to wipe my wounds.

“You r-really don’t have to y’know…”
“No…” he insisted, “It’s okay.”
“But… this is your house…” I said.
“So… where abouts do you live anyways?”
“I-I don’t really… uh… have… a…”
“Oh… then really… I insist. Stay with me until you’ve rested.”
“No… I can’t. You really shouldn’t be worrying about me Gerard…”
“Please?” He continued to wipe my aching body, and wash the dried blood away. When most of it was off, he handed me a black t-shirt and some jeans to wear. “I’m sorry if it doesn’t fit you… it’s all I have though.”
“It’s okay.” I smiled at looked up at his face. He had the most amazing green eyes I had ever seen. They were sparkling with intensity so great, I couldn’t look away. Getting dressed, his clothes didn’t fit me, but they weren’t ill fitting either. I inhaled with my head in the shirt, and there really were not words to describe it. It smelled like… Gerard.
“You can do whatever you want now… I mean… like you don’t have to wait for me.”
“But… I want to.” I smiled at him and he just looked at me.

Pretty soon he gave me a tour of the house, and showed me where I could stay. It was a small room with a window, a couch and a double bed. I thanked him and then I joined him as he sat on the sofa, and turned on the television. Nothing really happened then… I couldn’t focus much on the T.V. as I drifted off to sleep on the couch.

Though I wasn’t quite asleep yet, my eyes were closed but I listened to everything around me. I heard Gerard laugh and then he said, “Night Frankie.” With that, I fell into a deep sleep.

*

As I was waking up, I felt something extremely soft and warm on my face. It wasn’t wet, but moist and soothing. The feeling went away after a few seconds, as I opened my eyes. There was nothing in front of me, except the T.V. and a fireplace. I heard sounds coming from the kitchen and saw Gerard making some coffee.

“Hey… you’re awake.” He greeted me.
“Morning…” I yawned, taking a seat on a barstool. “Uh… Thanks for letting me stay here again…”
“It’s no problem. You want coffee? I made enough for both of us.”
“Sure.” I couldn’t help but smile as he smiled back at me. His eyes still seemed to glow with a certain mysterious quality… I couldn’t help but wonder. Was what I felt this morning a dream?
“Here.” He handed me the coffee and a cup of sugar.
“Thanks.” I added a few spoons of sugar and slowly sipped the dark brown beverage.
“So… What exactly did happen to you last night?”
“I was walking back from work… and these two dudes jumped me. One of them had a gun and I swore the other had a knife.”
“So they robbed you?”
“Yeah… pretty much. Not a lot of people passed me, but none of them stopped to help but you.”

I swore he had to be my guardian angel. He looked like an angel that’s for sure. His raven black hair flowed outwards to each side of his face, creating a perfect frame for those amazing eyes and perfect jaw line. I think I was staring at Gerard, but I don’t think he minded. He too was equally taken away and in a stare. Why would he be interested in me though? My hair was probably a mess and I was just another pathetic street kid.

“F-Frank…” he started, “I-I…”
“What?” I said softly.
“D-do… you believe… in love at first sight?”
“Yeah… of course I do.” I gazed into his eyes as he gazed into mine intently.
“C-cause… I uh…”
“Just say it… it’s okay. You helped me and it’s the least I could do…”
“You’re really special to me…”
“I-I am?”
“W-when I saw you on that street last night… I knew… you would be… the one.”
“The one. Yeah. I… er… you might think I’m crazy but… when you were helping me clean up last night… I had the same feelings I guess…”
“S-seriously Frank?”
“Yeah Gee… Can I call you Gee?”
“You can call me anything you want Frankie.”

Frankie… I think my cheeks went flush when I heard my new nickname. Gerard now was on my side of the table; his arms were around my waist. I didn’t exactly know what was going on, but it felt so right anyways. It’s like his arms were the missing pieces of my puzzle that I had finally found. He rested his head on my shoulder, letting out a deep sigh into my ear.

“I love you Frank Iero…” he whispered.
Slightly in shock by what he said, I tried to stand quickly, and jerked backwards, falling over top the chair. Smooth… I thought. “S-sorry Gee…”
“Frank! Oh god!” He held his hand out to me as I took it, trying to regain my balance. He kissed me on the head, as we both stood facing each other. “That… was uncalled for… sorry…”
“Don’t be…” I pressed his lips to mine, cupping his head with my hands and running through his hair, feeling some sort of magic between us.

He licked my lips, begging to enter. I had never kissed with tongue before… with another guy anyways. Oh well… I thought, new experiences are always good. Gerard had his tongue above mine, slowly pushing up and down, having dominance. I felt like such a pushover right now, but I didn’t care the least bit. He was tugging with my lip ring with his teeth and quite frankly, I enjoyed it. We parted slowly, me gasping for air.

“Ger… ard…” I breathed deeply. “You’re… so perfect…”
“Right back at you.”
“I swore… that you were my angel…”
“I can be whatever you want Frank… because I love you.”
“I love you so much too Gerard…” I then leaned in as he met me for another kiss.

Somehow, I could tell that this was going to be forever.
