Mothers... What Are You Gonna Do?
1 ReviewsMore issues between Gerard and Mikey's mom and Frank returns to his house.
“Mikey... what advice you got for me and your brother?” I asked him.
“Ray Toro is a good guy Frank, he and Gerard are really good friends. He’ll keep your secret safe.” Mikey reassured me.
“How do you know tha-“
“Oh. He and Gee always were at the house before. Usually playing video games and stuff. He treats me like his little brother but it’s all good. We’re friends too.”
Then Toro and Gerard were heading for our direction. They stopped to meet me and Mikey and we formed a circle shape. I could tell by Ray’s eyes that he wanted answers. The conversation went on. Gerard tried to cover for me when I didn’t have a good answer or he felt embarrassed.
“Okay… let me get this straight. You… and Gerard… are dating?!” Toro asked me.
“Yes… we are. I love Gerard so much and he loves me.”
“But Gerard…” Toro seemed uneasy, “I thought you… I mean… all those gir-”
“I know… but Frank is different. He’s better than any girls you’ll ever meet.” Gerard smiled at me.
I could tell Mikey was getting slightly uncomfortable and awkward now so I said that me and him were gonna head to our lockers.
“So you really do love my brother huh Iero?”
“Ahh… you have no idea Mikey. You have no idea.” I said, patting him on the back.

It was lunchtime. I went over to sit at the same table as Mikey, Gerard and Ray. On the way there though, and all day for that matter, I never realized how many girls were attempting to flirt with me. They would twirl their hair, give me a smile, wink at me and the list could go on forever. Most of them didn’t attract me obviously and they all basically were those skirt rolling, cheerleading, stick figure, girls, who wore too much make up for their age. It disgusted me that I was ever into them before. Gerard was all I needed. I knew that for sure.
“Hey guys.” I said approaching the table. There was this blonde kid who was sitting beside Ray. “Who’s your friend?”
“Oh, hi Frank,” Toro greeted me, “This is Bob Bryar, he’s in grade 11, class C. He just moved here from… where was it?”
“Chicago.” Bob said with a smile. He waved at me as I sat down.
I sat beside Mikey and then whispered to him, “Does Bob know about me and Gerard?”
“No I don’t think so. Ray wouldn’t tell him without your permission.”
“Frank… did you know that Bob plays drums? He’d be great for our band.” Gerard looked at me.
“Oh cool… our current drummer sucks.” I said with sarcasm.
Bob just laughed and we continued talking. He was a good guy without a doubt. Within the hour Gerard, Ray, Mikey, Bob and me had become the best of friends.

After school we all went to go and visit Gerard’s mom in the hospital. I could tell that Gerard and Mikey really missed their mom because as soon as we got to her room, they broke down and started crying.
“Mr. Way,” the doctor began, “Your mother is stable but has some severe injuries to her head and body. When she wakes up, she probably won’t remember what happened and may be very disoriented. Please understand this.”
Gerard nodded, signed a few waivers then exited the room, taking me by the hand into the waiting area.
“Your mom is going to be all right,” I said as softly as I could into his ear. It was so hard to see Gerard like this. He broke down into tears in my arms as we sat on the chairs. I tried to calm him down as not to make a commotion.
Soon enough, Mikey and the other guys came out of the room. Gerard’s face lit up as he saw Mikey smile. “Ma is gonna be alright.” He said to Gerard.

My house. It was a place I never wanted to go back to. Not after what happened the other night. Gerard said he’d come with me again just to make sure everything was okay. He told Mikey and the others to stay back at their house.
I desperately tried not to cry as we walked. Gerard could see it in my eyes I think. The tears were welling up as I tried not to think of what condition everything would be in.
Just before getting into the house, I stood with Gerard on the porch, looking into his big golden green eyes. I felt the tears finally running down my face, only to be caught by Gerard’s hand and comforting voice.
We entered the house, and I was terrified. But to my surprise, nothing was really wrong. There were a few broken cups and plates on the kitchen floor and my mom and the man were no wear to be seen. I checked all over the house but found nothing again. My room door had a hole in it from a gun shot most likely, but when I tried to open it, it was still locked. Then I remembered when me and Gerard escaped we had locked it and jumped out the window.
“Let’s go out to the back Gee. We’ll get through my window again.”
“Okay. Let’s go.” He smiled at me and followed.
I was the first to get through the window and everything was alright finally. I just wondered where my mom had went off to and if that man had killed her. Whatever. I thought. That bitch deserves to die.
