~~~~~~~~~~This is the Beginning~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The red haired girl awoke breathing heavily. "It was just a dream." She said to herself. She replayed the dream again in her mind.
There was a young woman looking to be in her twenties. She was in a hospital bed with a doctor and a nurse at the foot of the bed and another nurse on one side of her. On the other side of the woman was a young man also looking to be in his twenties. She was squeezing his hand. The woman had long strawberry blonde hair that was currently drenched in sweat, her face twisted in pain. "You're doing great." The doctor said. "You should be ready in another hour."
Then the dream skipped ahead. Once again the doctor was speaking. "It's a girl" The doctor said handing the woman the baby wrapped in a pink blanket. The man and woman smiled at each other before turning there attention back to the little bundle in the woman's arms. Everyone looked so happy.
Once again the dream skipped forward before continuing. The young man and woman were at the hospital once again. Like last time the woman was in the bed with the man beside, this time though there was no sound. She could tell the man was crying. The woman looked like she was asleep. Her head was wrapped in a bandage, but blood had begun to seep through the gauze. Her arms and hands were hooked up to many different machines. A half full bag of blood was hanging beside her. A monitor displaying her vitals stood on her other side. Then her chest stopped rising and falling and the monitor showed a straight line.
That's when she had woken up. She knew it wasn't a vision. The dream had colour, unlike her visions in which all colour was replaced with a blue-green. That and the events of the dream were from the past. The man and woman were her parents. Her Mother had died only one month after giving birth to her. A drunk driver had ran a red light and slammed into her car. Her Father used to tell her stories about her Mother quite often. That was before he had become fully engrossed in his job.
She sighed before turning to look at her clock. 1:08 the red letters flashed at her. 'Maybe I'll go get a drink of water' she thought to herself. She crawled out of bed, opened her door and quietly went downstairs towards the kitchen.
He saw her walk by through the space between the door and the doorframe. It was a warm night and he had left his door slightly open to let the cooler air of the hall circulate through his room. 'What could she be doing up?' He thought to himself. He knew why he was still awake. He was to busy thinking about her and Cronus. One of Cronus' giants had come so close to hurting her. Had it not been for Neil's abnormally lucky and narcisstic self. Neil had been looking in his mirror when the sun hit it just right to send a glare of light into the giant's eyes, temporarily blinding it. This had given her enough time to regain herself. 'There's no use just laying here' Jay thought to himself. ' I might as well go see what she's doing downstairs.'
In the kitchen she had just put her glass in the sink when she heard someone else come into the kitchen. Not being able to see who it was in the dark she immediately went into a fighting stance and was about to lunge at whoever or whatever was in the kitchen when someone grabbed her wrist. "Theresa?" a familiar voice questioned.
"Oh, Jay, it's you. Sorry. I was just thinking and didn't here you."
"About what?" he asked.
"Nothing really. Just a dream."
"Was it a vision?" His tone instantly turning into a more serious one.
"No, just a dream" She couldn't help but look at his hand still lightly holding her wrist. There were those butterflies she had been feeling a lot lately. Jay following her gaze quickly let go of her wrist, his face turning a crimson color. Theresa immediately missed the warmth of his hand and the feelings it gave her.
"You want to go watch some TV?" Jay asked, not knowing what to say.
"Sure"
Theresa flipped through the channels, making a mental note that 1:30 in the morning was not a good time to watch TV. "Do you ever wonder what's going on at home? Our parents don't even know where we are or what we're doing." Jay suddenly asked, breaking the silence that had formed.
"Yeah. All the time" Theresa replied. "It must be worse for you though. I've visited my dad since I've been here. You really should take break and go home for a while, see your family."
"I can't. The whole world is depending us and I've got to be here to lead the team. The seven of us have to be here to beat Cronus."
More silence until Theresa once again spoke. "Not everything about Cronus is as bad as we all think."
"What?!" Her words shocked him. Cronus was a demonic god bent on taking over the world. He was their arch enemy. Their nemesis. How could he not be anything but evil?
"I realize that he is completely evil, but maybe he brought a little good with him too. I mean, think about it Jay. If Cronus wasn't trying to take over the world, none of us would have ever met."
Jay was silent for a long minute; thinking. Theresa turned her attention away from him and stared at the TV screen, which at the moment was playing an infomercial on hand-held blenders "Call 1-800-blender, to get yours" the TV buzzed.
'She's right. She's always right. I can't imagine what life would be like if I'd never met them. If I'd never met her' Jay thought before looking over at the beautiful girl beside him.
"You're right," Jay suddenly spoke out breaking the silence that had once again covered them.
Theresa quickly spun her head around, a questioning look pasted over her face.
"I can't imagine it, life without you guys," he took a deep breath before continuing. "Life without you." He considered stopping there but Theresa's eyes seemed to plead with him to continue.
"I can't see myself without you," as he talked Theresa's butterflies returned. "Without you fighting by my side. Without me worrying that something might happen to you even though I know you are perfectly capable of taking care of yourself. Without,"
Jay was cut off by Theresa quickly and swiftly pressing her lips against his.
The next morning Theresa awoke to find herself in the living room, Jay's arm draped around her waist. She turned over to face a just awaking Jay, last night replaying in her mind. "Morning." she said.
"Morning." he replied.
