Unchained Melody
3 ReviewsA little thought on Gackt and children^^ GacktxYou.
"Ready?" The producer clapped his hands loudly, making the cameramen running around like chicken without heads turn and look up at him. They nodded reluctantly, continuing their endless run around the stage. Nothing was ever ready in places like these, Gackt knew from experience.
Sharp light. Sharper light. More powder. Orders. More orders. Sounds. Yells. Confusion. Gackt felt lousy in the middle of this circus. He shielded one of the child's ears with one hand, the other resting safely against his chest.
"Gackt-san?" He turned his head and looked at the producer, "We're ready."
Reluctantly he let his hands snake carefully around the small torso again, removing the beautiful warmth from his chest, and he flickered for just a second at the feeling of loss. Lifting the small body so their eyes could meet, he smiled at the curious eyes greeting him. Discreetly he made a fun face to make the baby smile too, and naturally he was rewarded with the most delicate smile; a toothless and very gummy smile. He smiled back; probably making them both look like a couple of happy clowns in the middle of the ongoing circus.
A hand came out of nowhere and started fixing his hair and he could feel more powder being added to his shoulders. He frowned, keeping his eyes locked on the baby's. The boy kept smiling carefree at him.
More light. Different light. Lifting of the chin. Bowing of the head. Sharper light. More powder. Orders. Yells. Snapshots. More orders. Finally the producer announced that they had gotten the perfect shot for the commercial and the light was taken off and he was brought a blanket. He declined wearing this and instead he pulled the boy back to his chest, having all the warmth he needed.
"Thank you!" He frowned slightly, as he heard the woman approach him quickly, "Thank you, Camui-san, thank you so much. This is such an honour!" She bowed once, twice, again and again.
He smiled softly, "My pleasure. Could I... please hold him a little longer, please?"
The woman redrew her arms with the speed of light, a bright smile playing on her features, as she bowed and thanked him again. And again. And again. He looked around a bit awkward. "Thank you... We'll be back in a bit." She nodded smiling, asking him to take all the time in the world.
Rolling his eyes he wandered away from the set-up stage, heading for the dressing room where he knew no one would be. The precious figure was snuggling tiredly against his body, those small fingers tickling him slightly whenever they were clenched and unclenched.
He turned on the soft light and entered the room, closing the door. He looked down at the top of the child's head, leaning down and placing a soft, almost-not-there kiss on it. He looked up at them both in the great mirror planted in the middle of the room. Gackt had trouble recognizing himself, the image so distant to him. Such a beautiful baby boy...
"Gaku?" The door was opened and You stepped in, smiling as his eyes met Gackt's in the mirror. You stepped up behind him and just looked over his shoulder, into the mirror, for a long time, not saying anything. Then he stepped even closer, his arms carefully snaking around Gackt's waist, meeting just below Gackt's holding the baby. "You look so beautiful together." He kissed just behind Gackt's ear, smiling as the other man closed his eyes and sighed tiredly.
"You have to give him back, you know." He stated matter-of-factly.
"I know!" Gackt almost growled, but then smiled apologizing. He shrugged carefully, "I just wanted to..." He stopped and just looked into the mirror, his eyes locked on the sleeping child in his arms.
"I know," You pressed his nose against Gackt's neck, "I know, honey."
They both sighed softly and after a while You pressed another kiss to the weak spot behind his ear. "How old is he now?" He asked softly, knowing the answer very well, but he knew Gackt needed this. He needed it to let go.
Gackt smiled sadly, "He'll be seven in August."
"Seven?" You smiled warmly, "Wow, time really flies, doesn't it? It feels just like yesterday..."
"Yeah, it does. Just like yesterday... You know... I got a letter some time back..."
"You did?" You asked surprised. He had not been told about a letter.
"Yeah, with a picture of him... He's so beautiful, You, so handsome." Gackt caressed the little arm with his index finger, getting pleased sleeping-sounds from the small boy, "He looks nothing like me."
"His loss."
"His win," Gackt smiled sadly, "That was what we wanted."
They stood silent for a moment. Then You released his grip, instead placing a soft hand on Gackt's shoulder, "Come on, Gaku, we better get back with him, so they won't think we kidnapped him or something..." He laughed softly, nervously, but Gackt laughed too.
"Why would we? I don't like children, remember?" He lifted the small body a bit and walked towards the door with a slight smile.
"I know..." You sighed, as he turned off the light and closed the door to the empty room, "I know.."
