Axl and Slash's meeting
2 ReviewsAxl and Slash see each other for the first time in 12 years.....What will happen?
thinking about everything bad that has happened in his life. How right from childhood, he was different to
everybody else, how no one really understood him. All of his life he had faced adversity, but he plain refused
to give in to any of their harsh words. People's judgements about him had only fueled his determination to prove
them wrong. But this was one moment where he felt completely volnurable. He felt that no one actually cared
about him, that no one understood him enough to even empathise with him a little bit. This was one of the most
depressing moods that he had ever felt.
He tried to remember the good times in his life. He thought about when GN'R got a record deal. That was a very
happy time for him, but through that he started thinking about something, or rather someone, else. He started
remembering how much that person hurt him, how that person betrayed him. This just made him more depressed.
Axl rubbed his face with both his hands, trying to calm himself down. But he couldn't stop thinking about the
person who had made his life hell. He cursed under his breath, trying to force himself to stop thinking about
it. Unfortunatly, that was easier said than done.
Inside the building there was some sort of musician gathering, which Axl didn't really want to come to in the
first place. He thought it would be a good idea to go though, just so he could try to socialise with people
that he may have some common interests with. But none of the many people that were at the gathering seemed to
interest Axl in any way. No one even seemed to care that he was there, because no one had noticed that he had
been out on the deck area for about half an hour. Axl didn't mind though, because right now he would rather be
alone. In this state of sadness he wouldn't be much fun to talk to either.
Axl kept on trying to think of something else. Anything would've been good. But his mind couldn't escape the
thought of that one person. Every thought that came into his head made him sadder and angrier. Angry that
he actually once thought that that person was his friend, that he trusted him. But Axl couldn't escape that
through his depressed state, he still missed him. He still wished he was there with him, comforting him. Axl
fought that by saying to himself "no, I never want to see him again. He betrayed me, he lied to me, he hurt me."
Axl then drooped his head down, putting his head into his hands. He could feel the moisture in his hands. His
hands were sweating so much, as if he was nervous, as if something was about to happen that he didn't plan for.
Axl heard footsteps. Someone was coming onto the deck. He wondered if someone had actually wanted to get him
back inside.
"Axl? Is that you?" A familliar, yet slightly confused voice asked. Axl had definitly heard that voice before,
but he couldn't place who it might be. He turned around and saw who it was. He was a man wearing an Aerosmith
t-shirt, black jeans with a chain that went over his pocket, a backwards baseball hat and aviator sunglasses.
He was about the same height as Axl, and he had long, curly black hair. He was the person that Axl had been
trying to stop thinking about for not just the past half hour, but the past 12 years. It was Slash.
Axl had a look of shock on his face. This was the man that he hasn't talked to in over 12 years, but also who
he had never forgotten. But he was also the man that Axl believed caused most of the pain and betrayal in his
life. His mind was going at a million miles an hour. Slash cautiously walked towards the end of the deck and sat
down on the edge, about a metre from Axl. Axl was staring at the ground, breathing heavily. He couldn't believe
he was here, that he was sitting next to him. Slash looked at Axl and said very quietly said "What's wrong?"
Axl couldn't look at him in the face. He just continued to stare at the ground, trying to take the situation in.
Axl finally responded. "You're whats fucking wrong" He scowled. "What the fuck makes you think that I want to
talk to you?" Slash looked a little suprised, but he shouldn't of expected any other reaction. "We haven't
spoken or even seen each other over 12 years, I thought we might be passed the resentment" Slash said. Axl
looked at Slash like he was the dumbest person alive. "Slash, you're the reason everybody hates me, you're the
reason that the media make fun of me. YOU'RE THE FUCKING REASON MY LIFE IS SHIT RIGHT NOW, AND YOU THINK I HAVE
FORGIVEN YOU!?" Axl screamed. "You are the reason I'm so fucking miserable you piece of shit."
Slash stared at Axl's face. He wanted to respond but he couldn't. He didn't realise Axl would still be so angry
about what happened. He thought to himself "It's 2009, and he's still pissed off? What the fuck is wrong with
him?"
Axl looked down at his hands, that were sweating more than before. He was breathing heavily, but trying not to
let Slash notice. He didn't want Slash to think he was nervous. Slash then observed Axl. He couldn't help but
notice how different Axl looked. He had braided hair that was pulled back, a ginger goatee and had obviously had
some time of botox injection. Slash wondered if it was really his former singer that he was looking at.
Axl then said suprisingly quietly despite his mood "Just fuck off. Leave me alone, I don't care about you anymore."
"I honestly wish I never met you, you've caused me more upset and pain than anyone else could have." Slash closed
his eyes. He was feeling a lot worse than he expected by Axl's words. "You're dead to me." Axl said with a shakey
voice. It was a hell of a lot harder to say than to think.
Slash was trying to make sense of Axl's words. He didn't know what to think. His hands started to shake a bit.
He felt something he hadn't felt for a long time. His breathing was heavy and shakey, and he felt sick. A
teardrop came out of his eye. Slash didn't think Axl's words would hurt him that much, but he was wrong. He still
cared about Axl, and to hear him say those things was incredibly hard. Slash hadn't cried since he was a kid.
He had never been an emotional person. But what Axl said just ripped through him like a knife.
Axl glanced at Slash. He saw the teardrop on his face. Axl felt like he had ran into a wall. He had never seen
Slash cry. Axl started to feel sick, he never thought he would be hurt by Slash's emotions. Axl then buried his
face in his hands. His breathing started to get shakier and shakier.
They both sat in silence for about five minutes. Axl didn't want to look at Slash again because he knew he would
feel like he'd been stabbed. Axl thought to himself "Why am I feeling like this? I ha- him" he couldn't even say
it in his mind. "What the fuck is wrong with me......." Axl took a deep breath, but it was obviously shaky. Slash
must have noticed that. He must know that Axl was also crying.
Slash inhaled deeply. "Ya'know Axl" he started. "I can take a lot of things that you've said about me. I can take
most of it with a grain of salt....But when you say that I'm the reason that the media hates you, that people don't
like you or whatever, that's absolute bullshit." Slash's voice was shaky, but he spoke quite loudly. "For the past
8 fucking years I have supported you. I've supported your whole fucking decision to do that album, I've tried to
say as many positive things about you as possible. I don't like it when interviewers and other people talk shit
about you, I've tried to stop them from doing that." He paused for a moment, and took a deep breath. "But you still
blame me for every-fucking-thing. Every bad moment in your life from '87 'till this minute. You know what Axl?
You need start blaming yourself. Because your blaming me for shit that I had nothing to do with. You're a fucking
dipshit that needs a reality check!!" He shouted. He then stopped for a minute. "I'm gunna take your advice though.
I'm gunna piss off and never have anything to do with you ever again. Because we were both a lot happier when we
weren't thinking about each other."
Axl was shaking more than before. How he wished what Slash said at the end were true. The fact of the matter was
that Axl hadn't forgotten about Slash for even one moment for the past 12 years. Even though he didn't want to
admit it to himself, he missed Slash more than anything. Axl always felt that Slash was the one that understood
him the most. Slash listened to him when no one else would. When Slash left GN'R, Axl felt that all of that was
fake. Slash was his best friend, but when that happened, Axl felt more betrayed and lied to than ever before.
Axl suddenly had a huge rush of emotion. Slash tried to get up, but suddenly, Axl grabbed him by the shoulder and
pulled him back. "WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING?!?" Slash yelled. Axl didn't respond. Slash then pushed Axl off. But
Axl then grabbed Slash's arm and pulled him back. "You're not leaving me again." Axl demanded. Slash looked at him
with a puzzled yet pissed off look. Axl was breathing very heavily. Slash scowled " What, so you want me to just
sit here and take your insults?!". "N-no...." Axl said. "You've left me once, it's not happening again" He said in
a suprisingly soft voice. Slash looked confused. "W-what....?" he said. Axl closed his eyes. His head was right
next to Slash's shoulder, if Slash pulled up he would get a shoulder to the head. "Just...just stay." Axl said in
a very quite yet sad voice.
Slash didn't know what to think of this. Axl had abused the hell out of him, but now he wants him to stay?
Axl whispered under is breath. "Fuck..." He was looking down at the ground, his hand was on Slash's shoulder.
Slash knew that Axl was crying. He didn't have to look at his face, he could just feel it. Slash suddenly felt
very empathetic. It seemed as though the connection that he used to have with Axl had returned. He didn't know
exactly what to do, but he felt as if he needed to do something.
Slash then took Axl's hand off his shoulder. He paused for a moment, but then put his arm around Axl and hugged
him. Axl was surprised, he didn't think Slash would stay, let alone hug him. He then rested his head on Slash's
shoulder. Niether of them said anything, they didn't have to. Axl knew that Slash wasn't the type of guy that
hugged people for nothing, so he knew this was special. He wasn't angry, he wasn't even sad anymore. He felt
calm. Axl wasn't very easy to calm down, especially when he was worked up a lot. But just resting his head on
Slash calmed him down immensely.
Slash felt a lot better too. "We're fucking insane" he said. "one minute we hate each other, the next we're the
best of friends." Axl smiled. "Slash..." "Yeah?" "I'm....I'm sorry." Axl choked out. Slash was very suprised. Axl
never apoligised for anything. He only says sorry if he really REALLY means it.
Slash just smiled. "I'm sorry,too".
