Prologue Die Jagd

Disclaimer: Thank you for taking the time reading this. First, the characters do not belong to me. Originally they belong to Square Enix and I do not make any money with this story. The only thing I own is my sick imagination XD

Well this is a RufusxReno story. Its quite dark but I wouldn't call it a darkfic. It deals with lots of serious themes like parents abusing their children, slash also known as boyxboy, also known as shonen-ai. Also this story will deal with adult themes, such as sex and homosexual relationships, so please keep this information in your mind when you read this.

Please be kind enough not to flame or insult me because of my interests. There are lots of people enjoying my work and if you do not, then please leave and read something else.

English is not my mother-tongue, I'm afraid. But I try my best to improve my skills. If there is someone who would consider beeing my beta-reader, I'll appreciate every kind of help. Right now I had to ask my english teacher if she would be so kind to look over the text but I don't want to ask her to read the whole thing. It is going to be very very long and especially such chapters with yaoi or also known as "Oh my God my virgin eyes!" would be kind of embarassing if she had to read those... Oh my....

Very well, enough of that, I hope you enjoy the first chapter.

Darkness. Nothing but darkness. Black darkness. Dark. Narrow. Black. Moist. Darkness.

A quiet whimper, a pitiful attempt to be heard, to be saved but the heavy black curtain of the dark kills those attempts immediatly.

A shiver you don't feel. A twitch you can't see. A tear which does not fall in front of others finds its way over a pale cheek until it rolls onto the floor and the liquid bursts into one thousand small drops, no light shines onto its remnants as a puddle. Its once beautiful and pure appearance became now gray and dirty because of the dust that slept on the ground. But you can't tell which color the teardrop has got right in this moment because of this heavy curtain made of darkness.

The figure who cried this single lonely tear does not allow to let others fall anymore. He lies on the dusty floor curled up to a ball, his knees pulled tight up to his chest, and cries, hoping that someone will hear his silent, pitiful whispers and please for help.

But noone hears it. Noone will. Never.

Because the darkness kills everything instantly.

Not a long time ago lots of races were gracing over the ground of the planet Gaia. They did not live in peace but they endured and respected each other to avoid a useless war.
The most powerful race on this planet was the human one without doubt. He often shocked the planets creatures with his brutality and longing for power. Since the dead of the Cetra the humans became more and more dangerous and they could make everything else tremble in fear. But most of the humans had never used their power and no war has been provoked. Humans and creatures lived in peace.

But not for long.

Because one day a man came whos longing for power and arrogance were unique and never seen before. His name was Arthur ShinRa and to demonstrate his power among the planets creatures and other human beings he built the ShinRa-Corporation. This Corporation whose president he became produced energy without any competitores and soon the ShinRa-Corporation became the most powerful company in this world. Arthur ShinRa became richer than the richest man on this planet, he became more popular than the most famous star and he had more power than the mightest ruler in history all together. But this power had its price, because the energy he sold was produced by the essence of life of the planet, the blood of Gaia, the Lifestream.

The Lifestream does protect the planet from its own decline. In every living creature on this earth flows a part of it and when the time has come for the stones, the trees and the birds to die then this part of pure energy will return to the lifestream to create a new body, a new shape it can give the most precious gift on earth to- life.

Arthur ShinRa used this sensitive balance of the planet against itself to create with the power of the Lifestream so called Mako-energy which soon became the most wanted substance on earth, even more important than water.

Lots of years went by and Arthur ShinRas wife gave birth to a son, Rufus ShinRa, who was supposed to reign over the world and the company when the time for Arthur ShinRa has come to give his own essence of the lifestreams energy back to the planet.

All these years ShinRa-inc gave the human beings on the planet luxury and with the help of the Mako-energy they were able to live their lives in happyness and comfort.

But lots of people did not agree with Arthur ShinRa's way of producing energy because they cared for the earth they walked on, they cared for the air they breathed in and they cared for the future of their sons and grandsons. They felt the weakness of the planet growing inside its shape with every new Mako-reactor that was built and they decided not to wait much longer and to put an end to this insanity.

That is how it came to the great war of Gaia which the human beings surpressed for such a long time succesfully. Those who fought for the planet's sake did not fight very long because ShinRas warriors, the so called SOLDIER, were far too strong with their ironblades and Mako-infused bodies. Those people who survived this bloody and unfair battle against ShinRa had been banished and until this very day they have been living in the exile trying to survive until the next morning.

Nothing could stop ShinRa's success and as a result of this the decline of the planet.

Well, that's how it seemed in the first place.

Slowly someone opened the door. It creaked and cried with a high-pitched sound and dust whirled wildly in the air like the fur of a scared cat. But the imprisoned person did not care about the dust because the door finally opened and it brought something much more important to him- light.

A huge figure stepped into the dusty and dirty room, his expensive red designer suite clung thight to his voluminous body. Those valuable shoes he wore crunched under the dust as he stepped deeper into the dark chamber. He stopped in front of the lying person on the floor, eyeing its seemingly dead body which stopped trembling when the door had opened with a cold stare for a while until the voluminous man stretched a hand out to grab the hair of the dead-like imprisoned.

"Out of here before I change my mind." snarled Arthur ShinRa and he dragged his son by his hair onto his feet to push him out of the dark room.

Rufus ShinRa stood on his slightly trembling legs but at least he stood there by himself. His breath went short and uneven because of the dust which dried out his throat and his chest burned painfully. Compared to the dead and rotting air in the small chamber there was the some he was breathing right now like the air in Paradise. It cooled his burning and aching skin like the liquid of the lifestream itself and he had to control himself to keep his cold attitude. His breathing slowed.

His hands didn't tremble as hard as before and he tried to get the dust out of his beloved white coat. He licked over his dry and wounded lips without deigning to look at his very own father.

"What was going on with you?!" Arthur asked his son, anger thick in his voice and he clasped a newspaper tightly in his big hands as if he wanted to struggle it dead.

Rufus ShinRa did not answer though. He was too busy to continue to free his white coat from the ugly dust. It didn't work so he unbottened it and took it off. It was too late. He could not save the pure white anymore.

The president of the ShinRa-corp got more and more angry with every second that passed by, his face grew redder and redder and a vein was pulsating threatingly on the right side of his head. He looked like he was just going to explode every moment.

"I demand an answer, boy! Why?!" He then threw the newspaper in front of his son's feet, so he could take a look at it.

The big black headline saying "Forced Marriage at ShinRa?" caught the eye of the reader immediatly, just like the two pictures under it. One of the pictures showed him, Rufus ShinRa sitting next to three persons. They were undenyable female, their exaggerating curves shocking and beautiful at the same time, their short black dresses and dessous contrasting with the pure white of his coat. All of those three women were as good as naked, just the silky nightgowns and their underwear preventing the readers to see something that was not supposed to be shown in a magazine.

The second picture showed a young woman at the age of twenty. She had long curly blonde hair that cascaded in streams like gold down her back. Next to her there was a suspicious looking stranger, walking closely with her into a house, which looked so expensive that the readers just had to wonder where in Gaias name she could own so much money to actually live in it.

Rufus did not pay more attention to the article than necessary. "Why so affected, Father?" he asked, his voice cold and without a sign of any emotion, even the word "Father" sounded like a "Sir".

"You should be pleased about the fact that I brought ShinRa-inc into the newspapers. Show a little bit more gratitude, if you don't mind."

"Gratitude?!" yelled Arthur and a second veine on his neck appeared pulsating in the same rhythm like the one on his temple. "I should be grateful to a little, snobistic prick like you are?! Do you really think I'm too stupid to notice what you're really up to?!"

"I often had to wonder about your stupidity, so I wouldn't put it past you." replied the blonde coldly, knowing that his father could lock him up again every moment when he wouldn't slow down soon. But the possibility of a heartattack wasn't that small either.

Arthur ShinRa struggled for breath one moment, his blood boiled in his body as he searched for the most hurting insult that would describe his son the best. But he didn't find any. They didn't fit Rufus' personality well enough.

"I know what you're up to, boy." he warned, his voice trembled slightly with anger and his face glowed like a red apple.
"You know how much I am seeking a grandson that will take over my company when I can't anymore. And just because you are too antisocial to arrange yourself with the fine women I have chosen for you my company will be ruined and it will simply be destroyed in the near future!"

"Our company." Rufus corrected with a shadow of a small smile on his almost angelic face. "Since you announced me the new vicepresident it is partly my company. Besides, I have better things to do than to annoy you. In the contrary to you I will not make a fool of myself by putting up this sort of niveau."

Arthur ShinRa began to tremble, he looked like a vulcano that is just about to explode.

"I just beared this stupid bitch that long because I knew it would be good for the press and the company. But please, don't expect me to get to know her in this kind of relationship. I don't think my soul could handle this advanced state of stupidity."

"You know very well that the press is going to kill you for this mistake you made."
Arthur ShinRa seemed relaxed again.

"You, Father. They are going to kill you, because they got it as right as they could. I never wanted to marry this whore, neither did I even consider the thought of getting her pregnant in my most horrible nightmares. Now the image of our little happy family in public is likely ours in private, don't you think so, too, Father?"

The President wanted to say a lot more, but he thought better of it. All unhealthy red color vanished from his round face and the veins kept pulsating under the skin where Rufus couldn't see them. He shaked his head and he clenched his hands to fists.

"Why, boy." he asked, his voice sounded more than an order than a question.

"You even dare to ask." his son laughed coldly, bitterly and cruelly and Arthur was just about to hit him again.
"Do you really think you could decide over my life? I am going to be the new President of this rotting company and I know one thing, I will do everything I can do not to end up like you. I wont sleep with every woman I see on the street and I wont get the first one pregnant so she can pop out a child I wont care about and that I'm going to abuse every now and then when I feel the need to. You think you are so dangerous because you own lots of money and lots of people's lives but in the end, Father, you are nothing more than a poor, silly, spoiled dog !"

He went to one of the three huge windows that could provide his appartement with light when the sun was shining and he kept talking without even looking at the man behind him.

"But I on the other hand do not want to degrade to a grown soft, cowardly dog like you. My soul has not the shape of a dog and I wont employ bodyguards that come waggling with their tails to me when I call them. I wont employ bodyguards that will sit next to my chair hoping for me to pet their heads and telling them "good dog, good dog.". I will create my own crack troops, the most dangerous one the world will ever know. Not little, breeded lapdogs. But wild wolves."

"You can't tame a wild wolf." Arthur ShinRa did not trust Rufus' words. He just did not believe those dreams of his naive son, he never did and he did not see the need to do it now. And that was his biggest mistake.

Before he could even say anything else Rufus took a letter-opener from his desk near the windows just as fast as a snake and the President heard how the sharp object rushed past him, missing him by millimeters. Even as the letter-opener flew through the room and crashed into the thick wall made of stone and buried itself in it, Arthur ShinRa did not realise how scarce he survived.

"Neither mass nor money, but precision and brutality cause fear." whispered Rufus, the air became heavy and thick and Arthur ShinRa was sure that Rufus' mere presence changed the atmosphere of the room.

"Fear and control...will make me invinceable."

Arthur ShinRa could feel how he became uncomfortable under the cold stare of his son and he began to shift slightly. He just wanted to storm out of this freezing hell the blonde had created in less than two minutes. Although Arthur ShinRa held lots of power in his hands, in his very soul he was just a mere coward.

"You won't be able to tame a wild wolf, Father, because a wolf can feel your fear and tension. It will know that he is your master and that it is able to force you to obey him, not the other way. You can't. But I, Father..."

Rufus went past his father to the wall the letter-opener crashed in and now the lower half stuck out like some sort of lever. He put his hand onto the golden handle.

"I can ."

Rufus pulled the letter opener out of the wall with such shocking ease that this time Arthur really began to panic. Small stones fell onto the white carpet of Rufus' Apartement with a klicking sound.

"You may go, Father." whispered the blonde coolly and Arthur ShinRa obeyed immediatly. He stormed out of the appartement like a frightened dog, his footsteps loud and fast.

Rufus ShinRa eyed the letter opener and the hole in the wall until he made his slow and relaxed way to his desk. He pushed a button on his intercom and asked Janice, his secretary, to call a skilled manual worker to fix it. Then he thanked her and strolled to the huge windows until his chest could touch the glass when he breathed. He closed his eyes and put his hands onto the glass as if he wanted to take in every light that the sun gave him.

His precious gift. The Light.

Meanwhile, Arthur ShinRa was running down the halls of his company to his own office and the employees stealed wondering glances at him and themselves until they shrugged and returned to work. The Presidents breath came faster and faster, sweat ran down his skin.

Finally he reached the door to his office, he opened it and locked it behind himself. Exhausted he let himself fall onto a chair, breathing rapidly and uncontrollable.

After a few minutes his heartbeat slowed down and his breathing steadied itself, but the claws of fear never released his trembling and sweating body. He let his fingertips ghost over his cheek and he was not surprised to see the remnants of dried blood on them. He wasn't even surprised about the fact that Rufus could handle a letter opener with the same precision like a skilled knife-thrower. The only thing he was wondering about was the question how he survived his son that long.
