Make You Smile
3 Reviews“So, while you were gone, was there…anyone special?” Gerard asked nervously.
It was another month into the tour. Only one more and they could all go home. Holly’s baby bump was starting to show, and her hormones were slightly crazy, but she could control them most of the time. She and Gerard were in their hotel room for the night, cuddled up and watching a movie on TV before going to bed.
“So, when we get back to Jersey,” Gerard began, pulling her and the bump closer. “Do you wanna start house hunting?”
“I guess.” She said. She wasn’t in a good mood, hadn’t been all day.
“Sweetie, tell me what’s wrong?” Gerard asked, running his hand over the bump and smiling.
“I don’t know. It’s these stupid hormones.” She muttered. “I feel all mopey.”
“I can fix that.” Gerard whispered, kissing her just below the ear and trailing down to her neck. She sighed and rested against the pillows.
“We need to think of names.” She whispered randomly. Gerard rolled his eyes and smiled at her.
“Well, we don’t know what we’re having.” He told her, propping himself up on his elbows and resting his chin on his palms.
“So?” She pouted. “That’s the point! It’s fun to think up names.”
“Okay, let’s start with boy names.” Gerard sighed. “I like Archibald.” Holly giggled and swatted him gently with a pillow.
“Seriously.” She sighed. “I like Olivia.”
“For a boy?”
“No, for a girl.” Holly smiled. “Olivia’s an Italian name, and since we’re both Italian, it works.”
“Olivia Way.” Gerard toyed with the name. “I like it. But what about a middle name?”
“Well,” Holly grasped Gerard’s hand tightly in hers. “Elena would fit.” A small smile crept upon his face.
“Olivia Elena Way.” Gerard mulled it over. “I like it. You’d do that for me?”
“Well, Elena was just as much a grandmother to me as she was to you and Mikey.” Holly whispered. “And I think it’s only appropriate.”
“I love you, you know that?” He smiled and leant in to kiss her.
“I do, and I love hearing it.” She smiled into the kiss.
“Okay, so now boy names.” Gerard said when they broke apart.
“I have a feeling it’s going to be a girl.” Holly smiled, running her hand over the bump and humming softly. “Just a little instinct.”
“But we should be prepared.”
“Fine.” She thought. “Well, Basil, for a middle name. No matter what.”
“Of course.” Gerard smiled. “How about Anthony? After your father, grandfather?”
“Not to mention Frankie.”
“No, we can’t forget him.” Gerard’s hand joined Holly’s and he smiled as he watched his soon-to-be wife’s eyes light up. “When are we getting married?”
“I don’t know.” She whispered. “Soon?”
“Soon.”
“Well, I really don’t want to wait until after it’s born, cause then I’d feel bad that it was technically a child out of wedlock. And I’m starting to show, and I don’t wanna be fat in the wedding.”
“How about next week?”
“Next week?!” Holly exclaimed. Gerard jumped back, knowing hormones were taking over. “That’s not enough time! I need bridesmaids, and a dress, dresses for them, we need to send out invitations, we have all these things to do!”
“Okay, we’ll do them. We can do this, Holly.” He whispered. “You’re not showing that much. Anyone looking at you would think it’s just like, a food baby or something. By next week, we can have an entire ceremony, and everything will be perfect.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yeah. I’m so sure.” Gerard said, taking her head in his hands. “Holly, I don’t care when, where, or how we get married, as long as in the end we’re together, and happy.” He kissed her passionately and smiled, knowing that he took her breath away with that kiss.
“Okay. But let’s start planning now, that way I’m not up half the night thinking of ideas.”
“Okay.” Gerard grabbed his sketchbook and went to an open page and grabbed a pen. “Colors?”
“Black and purple?”
“Perfect.” He scribbled it down. “Food?”
“Veggie things.” She replied, drumming her fingers on her stomach. “Like, vegetarian meals, that are fancy, yet tasty.”
“Got it.” Gerard laughed. “Music?”
“Well, whatever we want, but I was thinking, how about Sinatra? Or Dino? Just for the classy dances. Like our first dance, the wedding party dance, you know?”
“I like that idea.”
“And then whatever floats our boats. Like, Iron Maiden, The Misfits, anything we want.”
“Okay.” Gerard said, shaking his head. “I can just see people moshing at our wedding.”
“It’ll be a unique one, at least.”
“That’s true.” Gerard laughed. “Now wedding parties. I’m gonna have Mikey as my best man, of course. Frank, Bob, and Ray as the other groomsmen.”
“Okay, well, Ari is gonna be my Maid of Honor, as she has been my best friend for years. Then Audrina, Maxie, and Alexiz.”
“Alexiz?”
“She’s a friend from when I was gone.” Holly said. “She was the only one who knew anything about me. The only person who knew about you and me. She took me in and quickly became one of my best friends.”
“Well then, I can’t wait to meet her.” Gerard smiled. “Where did you go?” He asked, setting down the notebook and pen.
“California.” Holly said. “I don’t know why I went that far; I guess I was just afraid. I think I was in LA when I saw the ad for a roomie at a dance studio. I went and Alexiz took me in. She has a really colorful group of friends. There’s her, Vicky-T, Gabe, Pete, Travie, and so many other cool people.”
“Wait, Gabe and Vicky-T?” Gerard asked, putting two and two together.
“Yup. She works for Fueled By Ramen/Decaydance.” Holly smiled. “They were so fun. They only knew I was running from a bad relationship. It amazes me that dyeing my hair could change my appearance. I mean, Gabe remembered me, but he kept quiet.”
“So, while you were gone, was there…anyone special?” Gerard asked nervously.
“Not really, no.” Holly replied quietly. “I only went out on a few dates, and I never slept with anyone. I still kinda considered myself in a relationship with you.”
“That’s sweet.” Gerard smiled.
“What about you?” Holly asked, her eyes flickering up from his face and back down to her hands.
“No one.” He whispered. “I didn’t date or sleep with anyone. I was holding out for you to come back.”
“Awe.” Holly giggled and kissed him. “No wonder we were so violent that night. We were both abstinent for an entire year!” They both laughed and Gerard held her hand tightly.
“I think, it’s going to be amazing to be married to you.” He whispered softly, tracing their fingers. “It feels right, ya know?”
“Well, we have been dating for quite a while.” Holly sighed. “I remember the first time we kissed. You were so nervous your hands were shaking!”
“Yeah.” Gerard blushed and laughed it off. “And you were so confident; I remember Frank and Mikey spying on us from the living room. And the show that we gave them.”
“Oh, that was fun to walk in the door with.” Holly giggled, remembering pushing Gerard down on the swing in the front yard, after finding out Mikey and Frankie were watching them, just to make Frankie a bit upset.
“You were grounded for a week.”
“But I snuck out.”
“Just to see me.” Gerard smiled up at Holly. “I felt so special.”
“You are special, sunshine.” She ruffled his hair and laughed.
