It had been a few weeks since Gerard’s birthday, and something had Holly in a small rut. Holly walked down the hallway nervously, when she spotted Mikey. She ran over to him and hugged him.

“Hey, Mikey. I need to ask you something.”

“Shoot.”

“I have to go to the doctor’s, and I don’t want to go alone, would you go with me?” She asked, looking up at him.

“What type of a doctor?” He asked.

“Fine!” She pulled Mikey aside and lowered her voice. “I think I’m pregnant, and I don’t want to tell Gerard unless I know for sure, and I really don’t want Frankie to know just yet. Please Mikey?”

“Okay Holly. I’ll go with you.”

“Oh my god, thank you!” She hugged him tighter and they left to go to the doctor in town.

“Miss Iero?” The nurse called into the waiting room. Holly stood up and faced Mikey, and that’s when he saw it. The scared little girl he remembered at the playground on top of the slide.

“You can stay here if you want-.”

“Nah, I’ll go in with you.” Mikey said, standing up and grasping her hand as they followed the nurse.

“So you’re here to check if you’re pregnant?” She asked. Holly nodded. “And is this the father?”

“Uhm, no. The father is his brother, who was too busy to come today.” Holly said. They went through the height and weight procedures and she took them to a room. Holly got changed into the gown and Mikey stood respectively up by her head. “Thank you for doing this Mikey.”

“No problem.” He kissed her forehead and held her hand. “I’d do this for you even if you weren’t my brother’s fiancée.” Holly smiled up at him and the doctor came in.

“Hi, Holly.” She reached out to shake Holly’s hand and Holly met it. “So, you wanna know if you’re pregnant?”

“Well, that’s the only reason I’m here.” Holly laughed.

“And I understand he’s not the father?”

“No, I’m the father’s brother.” Mikey said, introducing himself and shaking the doctor’s hand too. “Holly didn’t want to tell him about this doctor’s visit until she was sure she was or wasn’t pregnant.”

“Okay, well, we’ll just take a look to see if you are, and see how healthy the possible baby is.” The doctor smiled. It was awkward for Mikey and Holly to be in the same room while this all happened, but he was there to support her. “Well, you’re definitely pregnant.” The doctor told her. Holly felt mixed emotions. Yes, she and Gerard were engaged now, but it felt too soon to have a baby. “You’re only three weeks along, and the baby seems healthy.”

“Can you tell the gender at three weeks?” Mikey asked.

“Not officially. It takes a couple more weeks to develop.” The doctor smiled. “You’re free to go, Holly, I’ll leave so you can get changed. Congratulations.”

“Thank you.” Holly waited for the door to close before closing her eyes and sighing.

“Holly?” Mikey asked worriedly. “Are you okay?”

“I’m fine, I just-I don’t know if I’m ready to have a kid.” She said. “I don’t even know if Gerard is ready!”

“Sweetie, Gerard will want this baby. It’s something between you and him, that is so special.” Mikey reassured her. “You’re going to make a terrific mom and you and Gerard will make amazing parents.” Holly smiled.

“Mikey, could you turn around so I can get changed?”

“Oh! No problem!” Holly quickly got changed and she and Mikey left the building and went back to the hotel.

“Hey! Where’d you two go?” Ray asked.

“Nowhere.” They both said. “We went to the drugstore to pick up some random shit.”

“Like what?”

“Bubbles!” Mikey squealed, pulling out the giant apple scented jug of bubbles.

“Oh my god, you two are insane.” Ray said, shaking his head. He left the two and they put the bubbles back in the bag.

“Okay, let’s go tell Gerard and Frank, okay?” Mikey said.

“Mikey, thank you for going with me, but I think I should tell them alone.”

“I understand.” He kissed the top of her head and they parted ways. Holly knocked on Frank and Gerard’s door and Frank answered.

“Hey, what’s up?”

“Hey Frankie, is Gerard here?”

“No, he went downstairs to get coffee, why?”

“I have to tell you something, and you can’t explode, or get mad, or kill Gerard, because then that would be bad, because he doesn’t even know.”

“Holly, sweetie, you’re scaring me, tell me what’s wrong.” Frank said, sitting her down and kneeling in front of her.

“Frank, I’m pregnant.” Frank had a blank look on his face. “Oh god, Frankie, please don’t be mad, and please don’t kill Gerard, he has no clue, and I’m going to tell him when he gets back.” Frank latched onto his sister in a hug.

“I thought the worst! God!” Frank exclaimed. “I’m going to be an uncle!” He said excitedly. “Who else knows?”

“Just Mikey, he went with me to the doctors.” She said, going through the bag. “She gave me a prescription of prenatal vitamins, I’m supposed to take everyday.” While she and Frank talked about the things she had to do, they heard the door click open.

“Hey Frank! Holly!” Gerard said, coming into the room with a cup of coffee. “What’s going on?” He asked when he saw their faces.

“Gerard, you might want to sit down.” Holly said, taking his hand and leading him over to one of the bed. “Okay, sweetie, I really love you and I want you to know that I’m pregnant.”

“Oh my god baby!” Gerard exclaimed. “That’s amazing! I’m going to be a daddy!” He jumped up and pulled her up with him and jumped around. “When did you find out?”

“This morning, Mikey went with me.” She smiled. “I’m three weeks along and it’s a healthy baby so far.” Gerard smiled at her and kissed her.

“I can’t believe I’m going to be a dad. This is so surreal.”

“Gerard, everything we do is surreal.” Holly laughed. “We have to go tell Ray and Bob, they’re the only one’s who don’t know yet.”

“We can do it at dinner tonight.” Frank said. “Right now, we’ve got a sound check to handle.”

“Alright, let’s go.” Gerard and Holly held hands all the way to the venue and no one thought anything of it. The two were just recently engaged, so they thought that was why they were all smiles.

“Okay, guys, I have an announcement to make!” Gerard said, tapping lightly on the side of his glass. “Well actually, Holly and I have an announcement.”

“So, tell us already!” Ray said, smiling.

“We’re pregnant!” Holly squealed. Frank and Mikey smiled knowingly. Ray and Bob smiled at Gerard and Holly.

“That’s great!” Bob said, getting up and going around the table to congratulate and hug the happy couple. Ray joined them and soon it became a giant group hug.

“So, how do you feel, being preggers and all?” Ari asked while munching on a breadstick.

“I don’t know.” Holly said, thinking about it. “I mean, I don’t think I’m ready for it, but I’ve always wanted a baby! And I think that it’s going to be the most spoiled kid in the world, with you guys for its uncles.”

“That’s true.” Bob said. “We’re gonna spoil the fuck outta that kid!” Everyone chatted about the baby excitedly, although it was months from coming. Holly noticed a particular spark in Gerard’s eyes whenever he was referred to as ‘daddy’ or something like that and she smiled.

“Awe, you’re such a sap.” Holly whispered in her ear, laughing.

“Well, I’m going to have to be.” He said. “I’m going to be a dad.”

“Eight more months buddy.” She patted his shoulder and then her eyes went wide. “I’m going to get fat!”

“No you’re not; you’re going to be gorgeous.” Ari reassured her. “Pregnancy is so beautiful!”
“I can’t drink coffee either.” She mumbled looking down at her for now, flat stomach. “Thanks a lot kid.”

“Well, I’m sure we can find something healthier to replace it in the next few months.” Gerard clapped a hand over hers on the table. His smile was all she needed. She knew that this was going to be an amazing journey between her and Gerard.
