"Scarlett! Thank God you're here! I swear, it takes forever to sign in on this thing!" "Come my child, you can go see Zoe and Julius now. Nosey’s already there," was the response. The two walked into the infirmary.
"Julius..." Delilah walked over to the bed where Julius lay. He looked so pale, so small, so weak... Two fingers caressed his cheek. "Delilah, I think he's waking up!" Scarlett exclaimed. Delilah moved backwards to create room for the nurse and Scarlett. A few high-pitched beeps were heard on the heart monitor. Julius' eyelids flickered open.
"D...?" was the first word he whispered. "Delilah's here, sweetie. Let me just quickly check your vitals," Scarlett told him. She looked at the monitors and screens in the room. "Everything's clear. Delilah, I'll go check on Nosey and Zoe now," She gave her a quick smile and left the room.
"Heeeey, Julius.. It's me, Delilah," She smiled softly and took his hand. Then she sat down in the chair next to the bed. "How do you feel?" He began to chuckle, but it then turned into a threatening cough. She quickly gave him a sip of water from the cup of water on the bedside table. "It's okay. You don't have to talk much. Just, close your eyes and rest Julius. You need the rest," Delilah consoled. "No, no. I want to talk with you Delilah. I... I don't think I'm going to live much longer. This.. whatever it is that bit me, it's making me die. If Scarlett doesn't find a cure, then I'm not going to make it. I don't think..."
"Julius, don't say that! I'm sure Scarlett is already searching for a cure.." "Yeah, but will she get it in time??" Julius interrupted. Delilah knew she shouldn't be riling him up like this, but he had brought it up. She could tell he was getting distressed. "Julius! Calm down. You're putting all of this pressure on yourself. It's not your fault! Just, breathe for a second, J!" She found herself out of her chair already. Julius sighed angrily. He didn't like being reprimanded, but, in the situation, Delilah won out. He closed his eyes and felt his heartbeat slow down.
"Thank you, J. Now, I'll let you rest. I'm going to go see Nosey and Zoe now. Have a good sleep, Julius." She smoothed the hair from his forehead, and bent down to kiss him gently. Without another word, she left the room.

Zoe's infirmary room
"...So, Zoe, that's why you're so sick right now. It's all my fault. I'm really, really sorry." Zoe reached up to Nosey's face. "It's fine, Nosey. What's done is done. You can't change it. We just have to wait for Scarlett to find an antidote." Nosey still felt horrible for getting his friends so sick. "Please, forgive me Zoe. I feel so horrible." A smile crept up onto Zoe's lips. "Nosey. I forgave you long ago for all your shortcomings. Not that there are alot.. at least, not in my eyes." Nosey finally smiled too. "Thank you. That's all I needed to hear." He reached and squeezed Zoe's hand. She closed her eyes.
BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!!!!!!
The heart monitor flatlined. The deafening, high-pitched screech rang in Nosey's ears. He was pushed out of the way and into the hallway, where he bumped into Delilah. "Hey, buddy, what's going on here??" Delilah asked, worriedly. She took one look into Nosey's eyes, and heard the faint beep of the heart monitor. It all registered. Zoe was in trouble. And they couldn't do a thing. She reached over to Nosey and held him in a hug, while still standing outside Zoe's infirmary door, waiting for the medical team to stabilize Zoe once more... if possible...
