Never Forget

Chapter 17

It was the evening of the next day and Vicky and Timmy were on a date. "I can't believe I'm here..." Vicky wasn't exactly happy, but she had agreed to go on a date with Timmy after the twenty fifth call from his parents.

Apparently a friend of the cousin, of the secretary, of the CEO of the company Vicky worked for, had recently acquired a vacation home through the real estate firm that Mrs. Turner was employed at. Mrs. Turner still had the contact information for the friend, and after a few calls she obtained Vicky's business cell phone number which she couldn't change so easily; unlike her personal number that she constantly changed to try to make Timmy stop calling.

"Where do you want to go first?" Timmy asked.

"First of all," Vicky looked around the amusement park, "I want to know why this place is empty, not that I'm complaining about that detail." She didn't like crowds, that was all she meant to say but the words played out with a double meaning.

"I won a sweepstakes on the internet and I have the park to myself for a day. People can only get in today if I invite them so it's just us." In truth, it was all thanks to a wish and fairy magic.

"You're really lucky with the internet," while trying to convince her of dating Timmy, Mr. Turner had mentioned on the phone that 'winning the coolest stuff online' was one of Timmy's strong points.

"Yeah..." an awkward silence formed for a few minutes.

Then Vicky finally spoke, "I'm here just this once because I'm tired of dealing with stubborn people," or maybe it was that, even for a small moment, she wanted to feel loved. "But after this I don't want to hear your parents complaining to me about your broken heart even again."

"My parents?" Timmy asked.

"You didn't know they called? Well they did, many times, and they even got my business number which is only for corporate emergencies. Tell them to stop."

Timmy knew that Vicky was completely serious about that. Besides, it was embarrassing that she only agreed to come to make her parents stop calling her. "I'll make sure to talk to them. It's not like I asked them to call or anything. They kind of noticed what was going on, but I didn't think they would go that far."

"I know," and she did, Vicky somehow knew Timmy had not asked his parents to call. "You're stubborn enough by yourself and don't need any help to be annoying."

"Let's just have fun today, okay?" Timmy changed the subject.

They did have an entire amusement park to themselves and Vicky needed to relax. The roller coaster looked particularly inviting, even more so without a crowd of people to push aside. It had been years since she rode on a roller coaster so she hoped on. "Who's supposed to make it go?"

"It's automatic," Timmy replied, not even the amusement park employees were there.

The roller coaster didn't move. "It doesn't look automatic. Maybe this is the catch for that sweepstake."

"That would be bad if we can't ride anything. I wish the rides were automatic." The roller coaster started to move after Timmy's wish, spinning around in full circles and speeding up with every turn.

The ride didn't end for fifteen minutes, until Timmy wished that the roller coaster was not automatic, which left him and Vicky stranded. "Great now we're trapped," Vicky looked at the moving rides, all of them had automatically activated along with the roller coaster but only the roller coaster had stopped.

"I'm sure it'll be alright, we'll be able to get off soon." Timmy hoped this next wish turned out better, but he decided to wait a little before making the wish.

The ferris wheel lit up and Timmy remembered the advice he got from both his father and Cosmo, 'trap her in the ferris wheel, it'll get you a kiss guaranteed' but there was no employee to bribe for keeping them up there and they were already trapped on a different ride.

Maybe they would be better off in the ferris wheel like in those movies that Timmy's mother always watched. "I wish the roller coaster ride would end." The wish was granted; the roller coaster moving the rest of the way so they could get off. "Vicky, let's go to the ferris wheel, okay?"

Vicky nodded, she had become quiet and Timmy wasn't sure if she was feeling bored, awkward or simply wasn't in the mood to talk.

The pair headed towards the ferris wheel which was still moving, albeit slowly. Timmy hopped on as one of the little boxes passed by. "Vicky!"

She was lost in thought and nearly missed jumping into the same box. She took Timmy's outstretched hand and he helped her get on. She simply sat quietly after that.

Timmy didn't even need to make a wish to cause the ferris wheel to stop in mid air. His guess was that Cosmo and Wanda were watching and wishes were not required for minor things like stopping a ferris wheel. But Timmy would need more than a movie-like situation to make the date take a turn in the right direction. He wanted to save Vicky but he didn't know how to make her like him, let alone love him. Plus he had that small part of him that still resented her a little.

"Somehow I'm not surprised..." nor did she look upset. Vicky simply watched as the last rays of the sun disappeared and continued to sit quietly.

"You know what would be good right now?" Timmy randomly asked, trying to get a conversation going and hopefully make the situation less awkward.

"What?" Vicky followed along.

"A yeti," Timmy replied.

"Yeti?" Vicky echoed.

"Never mind you probably don't remember."

A few more minutes passed until the memory surfaced in Vicky's mind. "I do remember, but that wasn't a real yeti, he was a man."

"If he was a real yeti it would have been better."

"I never promised you a hug, just that I would go on a date with you."

"A snow dragon..."

"What?"

"For this," and in a brave move he took her by surprise and kissed her.

To be Continued

Disclaimer, I do not own Fairly Oddparents. Kind of cheesy... I made a reference to one of the episodes in this chapter. I don't remember the title but it's the one with the snow resort. Vicky and Timmy are being chased by a yeti who they don't know is actually a human. They become friends to survive escaping from the yeti and there's a part where they hug. One more chapter to go!
