Never Forget

Chapter 13

"Vicky has become immune to fairy magic unless she consciously and willingly accepts its effects. It was a defense that Crocker intended for himself," Jorgen explained. "Because of this we have no choice but to ask for her cooperation," he looked at Vicky, "in keeping Fairy World secret. However, Cosmo and Wanda-"

"Will be allowed to stay," Vicky finished for him. "And Timmy will be able to make all the wishes he wants, including some for me."

"As long as those wishes don't break Da Rules," Jorgen added.

"Good enough, it's a deal," Vicky agreed.

"Wait, don't I get a say in it?" Timmy asked, but the silence spoke for itself. "I'm not surprised... anyway I'm still a little confused."

"Puny human, listen, I will explain it for the last time. The dark creature was a failed experiment of Denzel Crocker and he was killed by it. The needed information was lost with him. The head the creature carried belonged to another unsuccessful experiment whose body fell apart soon after creation. The creature had killed many fairies in Fairy World in revenge for the capture of the head. We made a deal with him. If we put the head out of her misery, then he would stop attacking fairies. But there is one thing he still wants to do, fulfill revenge on Timmy Turner. To do this he will kill Timmy Turner's beloved before his eyes before taking Timmy's life." Jorgen explained.

"His beloved?" Vicky questioned.

"He can magically time travel but he takes risks and can be captured. In a unidentified future, maybe an alternate dimension or maybe this very dimension in which we live, the two of you will fall in love. He has seen this. But he has also seen that it has not happened yet so he cannot fulfill his revenge. He is also unsure if it will happen in this dimension." In the end Jorgen told them both. "His wish was for his companion, the head, to rest in peace and that was done. His last unfinished business is revenge by killing Timmy's beloved, then Timmy. The scientists believe he will self destruct after accomplishing this. Originally I had planned to reveal this only to one of you and have this one make the other fall in love... but that has changed, I decided that both of you must work hard."

"I don't know what kind of crazy dimension you're talking about but I'm not in love with Turner." Vicky said coldly.

"Besides," Timmy added, "you're basically saying that falling in love is like suicide... not that it could happen anyway, but then he would kill us."

"That is not what I said, you were not listening well enough puny human and deadly human!" Jorgen yelled. "He will be led into a trap, he is defective, he's overconfident. This must be done; otherwise you will be haunted forever!" Jorgen disappeared as if he was tired of arguing and knew that Timmy and Vicky would not agree right away, he gave them time.

"So basically we need to achieve the impossible as a suicidal trap and trust someone to protect us who couldn't protect his own kind." Vicky was angry. "I guess this means the hunt is off."

An awkward silence settled in, which was not broken until much later. At the time Vicky was watching TV to get her mind off things but not really paying attention. She thought that re-watching her old Maho Mushi DVDs would relax her, but it only made her remember the betrayal in a future that never happened and images of a future that was yet to come. "I think it's more than just immunity to having my memories erased..."

Timmy looked at Vicky; he missed Cosmo and Wanda but knew they must be busy working on the Fairy World recovery plan. "This is all my fault..."

"He was lying, not all the guards in Fairy World could have stopped the escape even without the incident at Blonda's party," Vicky spoke.

Timmy looked at her wide eyed, "how do you know about that?"

"Isn't it odd that I also remembered the alternate future? These aren't just memories. He's telling me this, that dark creature is putting this information in my head, but somehow I know it's all true," Vicky admitted.

"Some kind of psychic connection, that's why your memories can't be erased, he reminds you all the time," Timmy realized, "the memory erasing magic was aimed at the wrong target."

Vicky closed her eyes; she saw imagines of an alternate world and a grown up Timmy who tricked her into trusting him, a man who promised to rule by her side only to undo that which she made. She felt betrayed, angry and another emotion that she did not want to admit was heart break. Then the image would change to a peaceful world. That same man who pretended he couldn't remember anything was trying his hardest to make things up to her. He tried to make her world a happy one to make up for the world she couldn't rule.

The stupid robot was a joke, but also a way to keep Cosmo and Wanda there while the parents continued to pretend they didn't know; it was for the children's own good, so they could have their fairies. But later there was another image from many years into the future. A little boy with red hair and blue eyes playing a high tech video game with a smaller boy with green hair and pink eyes. Not her child but her grandchild, she could see that far but only in bits and pieces. Then she opened her eyes.

"Some lies feel like truths but thinking about them reasonably, they have to be lies," Vicky's words puzzled Timmy.

But there was something else that bothered him. "Vicky, am I really that unreliable? That... I don't know, useless and unworthy? You always told me that so many times. Cosmo and Wanda would say it wasn't true but they're my fairies, they're supposed to like me. My parents ignored me sometimes but when they showed they cared, well... parents are supposed to care."

"What are you getting at?" Vicky asked.

"Achieve the impossible as a suicidal trap..." Timmy quoted. "The impossible; because liking someone like me is impossible?"

"I guess that makes two of us then."

Timmy looked at Vicky in silence, not knowing how to reply. She was talking about herself? Of course, she had to be, she was Icky Vicky after all. Unsuspecting men could be attracted to her looks or money but that wasn't love. He could be loved, he knew that, yet Vicky's presence was simply draining; draining of energy, confidence, courage, everything, and he wanted to change that. "You're likable when you show your nice side..."
