{{a/n ;; this is just a chapter to introduce marc's best friend....the one who's being a jerk}}

Marc was happy. His grades were back up, Joey had forgiven him...if only Andy would stop being mad at him. He had no idea what he had done to make Andy so angry. As they sat at lunch Andy kept giving him dirty looks.

"Andrew WHY are you mad at me?" Marc took a stab at getting andy to talk to him again. It wasn't easy to live without his bestfriend.

"Jane, tell Marc that I don't want to speak to him right now" Andy still refusesd to directly talk to Marc.

"Andy, i'm done with this. Why don't you just grow up? Atleast tell me what i've done wrong so I can fix it" He stormed out of the crapeteria, yet again, because he couldn't stand being in the same room as Andy. He didn't understand. They had never fought like this before. He continued to walk with no destination. Soon he heard his name being called from behind him.

"Marc, wait"

He turned around to see Andy "Oh, so now you decide to talk to me"

"Marc, I'm sorry. I just "He was at a loss of words

"Tell me what's making you so angry." Marc whispered "What have I done to you?"

"You're faling for a guy who hates you. A guy who I don't trust."

"So, you're...jealous?"Marc was very confused

"No, i'm just trying to protect you ok? I've told you before to stay away from him, but just don't listen"

Marc didn't believe that his love for Joey was making Andy so upset, and he was determined to get the truth out of him. "Oh well, I've fallen for him. What do you want me to do about it?

"Just stop. ok? Havn't you noticed how sad i've been these past months? everyone else has. Did you even bother to ask me ONCE, why i was so down? NO, because you're too infatuated with this Joey guy to even notice. I need you so much right now. And you're not there for me." He broke down falling against the locker onto the floor for the first time in months, he cried and let out all his stress.

Marc had never seen his best friend cry. not since they were in kindergarden. Andrew was one of the strongest guys he knew. He slowly wrapped Andrew in a hug, lending him a shoulder to cry on. "Andy i'm so sorry." and he truly was sorry for not being a good friend. there obviously was something terribly wrong in Andrew's life, but Marc had been to blinded by love to see. "I'm sorry" he said again, guilt enveloping him "Do you wanna talk about it?"

"No." Andrew pushed away from the hug looking away "I've said all that needed to be said"

"Don't lie to me, Andy" Marc once again placed a hand on andrew's chin and made him look. "I know you too well. and I can tell that there's more that's bothering you. you dont cry this easily" He now wiped away his bestfriends tears

"It's my mom." He spoke slowly "she just gets sicker each day. She was coughing up blood today. Marc i'm scared. They don't know what's wrong with her. I'm just so scared." He repeated. Crying and falling into Marc's arms again.

Marc tried his best to comfort Andy, who was at his weakest. "Oh gawd. Andy everything will be ok" He stroked andy;s hair trying to calm him "I promise. Things will get better" Just then the warning bell rang. "you wanna ditch?" andrew simply nodded his head not having the strength to speak.

They drove in silence, Andy sniffing once in a while, silently crying. They pulled up to the parking lot of The Diner. Andy's favorite place.
Marc got out of the drivers seat and walked around to the passengers side and opened the door for Andy. "C'mon" he out streched his arm

"Marc I don't wan-"

"i don`t care what you don`t want. you're coming with me because i cant stand seeing you this sad, especially when im part of the problem, and i'm going to cheer you up."

Andy rolled his eyes and sighed, but gave in nd let himself be pulled out of the car by Marc.

"oh, the signature 'Sigh and Roll'. havnt seen that one in a while. I was beginning to miss it" They walked behind the diner

"where are we going?'

"don't worry" Marc smiled slyly. still holding on to andrew's hand
they found themselves surrounded by trees in 5 minutes. Just nothing but trees. Beautiful green trees.

"oh my gawd!" Andy gasped "I remember this place, we named it Tree Hill because of all the trees and the fact that it was a hill. We used to sneak out here all the time when we were little and our parents were talking up a storm at The Diner."

"Yea, I know. The first time we left they honestly thought we had been kidnapped" Marc recalled, causing Andy to laugh.

"We never came out here to play or anything though." Andy reminisced, "We'd always fall aslleep in the same spot. Right over there," He pointed a finger in the direction, "is where we made the pact when we were eight. We said we'd be friends forever no matter what and always be there for eachother. Even if we were old and wrinkly." He chuckled at the last part, remembering how ignorant they were back then. "I miss those days. When everything was simple and there were no worries. Nothing could go wrong." He began to tear up again.

Marc's arm wrapped around his broken bestfriend, almost automatically. "C'mon, let's go to out spot"

As they sat under the big oak tree they stared out into the clear view of their town, both of them forgetting their problems. And spent the rest of the afternoon retelling "remember that time when...", stories. Laughing. Something Andrew hadn't done in what seemed like years, but were only months. He was glad to have his bestfriend and couldn't believe that he ever doubted their friendship.
