Never Forget

Chapter 5

At least he would get to keep his fairies for a long time, Timmy mused, he better get to keep them, because he had certainly earned it. "Is it just me, or are things falling apart in Fairy World and Jorgen doesn't want anyone to know?" Timmy knew that Jorgen didn't exactly trust him. Normally he wouldn't be asked, or ordered to handle a mission that should have been handled by fairy world. Timmy did have a history of having saved Fairy World many times before, usually from trouble he had accidentally caused, but he had a feeling there was more to it this time. "Life hates me," he concluded.

Cosmo and Wanda tried to console him as they always did, though Wanda didn't deny her concern of Fairy World's inability to handle the situation, and Cosmo did not hide his total confusion.

But no matter what, the bottom line was that Timmy had to see Vicky again to get to bottom of this mess and hopefully clean it up. That of course would make the rumors stronger if he was seen with her. Timmy knew that his fairies could be taken away if he didn't cooperate as Jorgen said; no one had to remind of that. He knew that he was forfeiting his reputation, causing his parents grief, or at least his mother, and risking life and limb at the risk of suffering from Vicky's wrath should she find him following her; but he couldn't let go of Cosmo and Wanda.

In all truth, Timmy didn't care what other people said. The rumors were annoying, and the reactions from Chester and AJ were less than pleasant to deal with, but he would deal with it. However he couldn't deny the guilt he felt when he saw his mother looking so disappointed. Such thoughts occupied his head during the time Timmy spent taking brushing his teeth, taking a shower and completing the usual morning activities culminating in going downstairs from breakfast.

It was a holiday, and Timmy had no idea what it was about, he didn't even know that is was a holiday, as holidays seldom matter when they occur during vacation, when he would be free anyway. It didn't even matter in the past because his parents would still be out, having fun instead of working, but the would be out, and Timmy would end up stuck in the house with Vicky. Of course that ended six years ago when he was twelve, but when Timmy thought he heard his parents greet Vicky at the door much like they used to do, a flood of memories came rushing back and he felt a cold chill run up his spine.

Vicky was in the house. Why was Vicky in the house? Timmy didn't know if he should rush to the door and lock himself and his room, but before he could decide, his legs moved on their own and he ran towards Vicky who was casually chatting with his parents at the table, while breakfast was served.

"Good morning, Timmy, come have breakfast with us!" For someone who was in hysterics the night before, Timmy mother was certainly cheerful.

Without saying a single word, and not keeping his eyes off Vicky, Timmy sat down and noted the confident look Vicky had. She always looked confident, but this was the same look she got when she knew she was getting away with something. "Hey, Timmy, how are you?" Vicky's tone was nice, fake nice; it was the tone she used with his parents in the past.

"I'm fine..." Timmy reluctantly replied, "and you?"

"I'm so relieved that it's all been cleared up," Vicky casually took a sip of her coffee while Timmy looked confused.

"I'm so sorry we didn't believe you," Mrs. Turner apologized. "There was so much evidence that it was the kind of thing there was no use in denying; but the proof was false, I know that now."

"Oh..." Timmy eyed Vicky, questioning her with his eyes about what in the world was going on. "That's a relief."

Mrs. Turner nodded, "the wonders of technology, it's just too bad when it's used this way."

"Yes, I knew that Tinysoft wanted revenge because I declined their job offer. But I was under a contract for another company and I needed to respect that even if they offered a better pay," Timmy obviously did not believe Vicky's act, but his parents did. "To think that they would edit those pictures and spread them around; I'm glad I was able to prove they were fake. It was all thanks to the kind people at the hotel who showed the press their security videos."

It all clicked, the security videos must have been fake. With as much money as Vicky had, she could easily hire an army of hackers, video editors and geeks to do her digital dirty work. That paparazzi must have gotten into trouble for distributing fake photos, the so called lying witnesses, the press, even Ubetcha. Timmy could picture the reported being forced to issue a public apology to Miss Victoria for divulging unreliable information that turned out to be 'false'. Timmy had to hand it to Vicky, she was cunning, and her revenge on the nosy press was executed perfectly.

Mr. Turner sighed, "it's just too bad, that even if Timmy and Vicky did meet, they only talked, and he never even got to see the door of her room."

"Honey!" For such a sweet word, Mrs. Turner let it ring out with a lot of bitterness. "Don't mind him Vicky."

Vicky laughed, "Don't worry about it Mrs. Turner, I know Mr. Turner is only joking. Besides I can only see Timmy as my darling baby brother."

That had struck a nerve. Though Timmy was happy that enough of his inner child was left to keep Cosmo and Wanda around, he did not like being called a baby at age eighteen. "I am not a baby!" Timmy defended himself, not realizing how immature he was sounding.

Timmy had no choice but to be quiet and humor Vicky in the past, he had no intentions of contradicting Vicky's version of what happened, but he was not going to put up with watching Vicky lie to his parents again. It frustrated him to know there was nothing he could do, and that Vicky getting away with her lies was for the best given the situation.
