| livingontheedge | Trinity Blood Any of you all like that show? Just wanted to ask what you thought about it b/c i really like it! Well let me know what you think about it b/c i am writing a fanfic on it right now and just wanted to see how popular it was...but i love it though |
| JesusKetchum31 | I just adore Trinity Blood. It's really funny, when it premiered I was really excited about Bleach, as I love urban fantasy, and going "omg another vampire anime" about TB. Then I watched them and I really fell for TB and disliked Bleach. I mean, Bleach has great characters, and so does Trinity Blood, but there's a gravity to the way characters interact in Trinity Blood that's powerful. Plus, the aesthetics of Trinity Blood... it's so beautiful, so rounded, and the colors are amazing. As I continued to watch, I really came to love the characters of Abel and Caterina. Plus, the sociopolitical commentary is striking. Great show. |
| livingontheedge | Agree Yes i agree with you that i do like Bleach but i love TB! I really like Ion and Esther though and that's who i based my fanfic on. |
| JesusKetchum31 | Not to character bash or anything, but Esther drives me crazy. She just seems like a glorified Mary-Sue, in my opinoin. Still, I recognize why other people like her and if I weren't so jaded and boring, I probably would too. I love Ion's VA, but I keep on going, "Where's Ed?" =D |
| livingontheedge | That's funny i do that too. It's the first thing i noticed when they introduced Ion. I think that Esther can be a bit too "holy" she is too dang nice and in her eyes there is good in all people but i still think she is a interesting character though and sticks by her word. |
| JesusKetchum31 | If Trinity Blood were a lesser series, my dislike of Esther would have pushed me away. But even her attitude fits in pretty well with the series... It's not often that something can make what I feel is a "sue" work. And the whole thing with Ion does make me dislike her a little less as a character. I dislike her more as a person, but less as a character! XD I find it absolutley hilarious how hard she's fallen for Ion though. And I bet she wouldn't have if he weren't a little kid. XD |
| livingontheedge | have you watched the whole set of episodes or just the last few episodes on tv? |
| Gabi_Texi | Ummm... Trinity Blood? Well... you know the old saying: "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all". |
| livingontheedge | I am guesssing that Gabi Texi doesn't know the show so therefore don't come into the convo b/c your statement makes no sense....anyway hey JesusKetchum31 have you watched the whole series or not? i am just asking i haven't but i am wondering if it gets really good, it's good now but just asking... |
| JesusKetchum31 | My anime viewing is limited to the Pokemon feature films I can purchase and the series I can watch on Adult Swim. As such, I've only seen some of the episodes that have aired on AS. I would have seen all of them, but we don't get adult swim at home, and I had to move out of my dorm for a month and go home over Christmas break. So I saw everything through the first two episodes that Ion was in, and now I'm picking up with this Saturday's episode. Hover, I've spoiled some of the stuff that is to happen for myself... including the stuff with Esther. In fact, that's part of why I view her as a Sue. :p Also, please don't expect immediate replies of me. I am a college student and I get pretty busy. I often don't check ficwad on Weekdays, and sometimes not on weekends either. It would help if the forums had a notification system, then I could reply more immediately, but I still probably wouldn't. Even in chat rooms, I'm not that fast. Doesn't help that I write practically novel-length replies, either. XD Oh, Gabi... regarding the old adage you're fond of quoting... While it is true that there is a certain measure of decorum that must be observed, pretending negative thoughts don't exist only invites less predictable cruelty, outbursts,a nd such later. There are times when the adage holds true... but with fictional series it's really important to sound off on them, even if you dislike things. This gives the people producing it a chance to see how it's being received, and the people who might look into it a chance to learn more before they buy/watch/whatever. Plus, for those of us who are going into jobs related to fiction (teaching English/literature, showbiz, writing), it's important to be able to be critical, and to navigate criticism, our own and that of others. Everything I do on this site is practice for my future--the fics and poems I post are practice for me the writer, and the forums are practice for me the teacher and me the person. Especially the latter. I don't play well with others. |
