Some ideas for the "Warnings"
1.A new "Warning" flag for slash stories would benefit some of the readers. It would be easier to search for slash if you are gay, or to avoid them, if you don't like homoerotism.
2. The "Warning" field in the search page is not explained and there is no easy way to decipher the letters (X, Y, V...). Explanation in the "label" field would be helpful.
Ithilwen Interesting note. A lot of slash is written by women for women.
Rous This has actually been discussed in another thread. I am not sure which one. You can post in the summary, that is what I do. However, if the author chooses to not warn their reader, then it is reader beware. Some are just not very courteous.
Ithilwen Indeed we did. Here's the link:

Some of the members made a pretty good argument against labeling slash because they felt it would vilify homosexuality. Far better to vilify bad writing.
Rous Not sure how labeling slash would vilify homosexuality. I just want to be warned before I read something that it contains slash. Some days I read it, others I would rather not. Not labeling it takes that choice out of my hands.

And, I am all for warnings about bad writing. However, that is not likely to happen. Oh, and do not start in about the ratings. They are only as good as the rater, and frankly, far too many of the raters should not have access to rating until they can read and judge better.

? Most slash isn't even written by homosexuals.
Nightspore I'm gay. I read slash, I read het. I read lots of things. It's not the first thing I look for in what I read. If I only want to read for the sex, I'll be reading porn, not fanfic.

If a story's well-written, it shouldn't matter who likes who. A "X" rating should cover things sufficently. It's very rare I've read a properly rated story and not been able to tell within a paragraph or two if it's slash or het, so realistically there's very little danger of a homophobe accidentally reading slash and getting gay cooties or throwing up all over their keyboard or whatever the hell they think is going to happen to them.
DagDurnik One more site overrun by the arrogant gays. :(
Nightspore Better than being overrun by asshole homophobes. Cheers.
