Stuck on what to write? A tip.
I've been hugely engrossed by an AU that started with the simple question: "What if X hadn't worked out in the game?"

Most TV shows/movies/games have dramatic moments where it looks like Our Heroes are doomed, their backs are to the wall, something horrible is almost certainly going to happen -- and they manage to save themselves, avoid making the fatal mistake, get around the problem.

But what if they hadn't?

I've found that one little change-- if it's the right one-- causes a domino effect. Then you get to stretch yourself, imagining how the world, characters, plots, etc would be changed by that single change, and what parts would stay the same.

AU -- Alternate Universe fiction -- lets you take a story and world you know and see/enjoy it afresh.
RisanF Yeah, I do stuff like that all the time. I have one idea for an AU based on Dragon Ball where the bad guys win and the heroes have to mount a resistance in a world slanted sharply against them.
