  I'd been avoiding saying anything but now I've finally posted a story on the site I've decided I will make an effort. I'm oldish I guess by many fanfic writer standards - a baby boomer brought up on TV, scifi and rampant consumerism. I'm at that 'tweeny' age - too old to want to look for a new job but still too young to retire. I love animals but people can irritate me. I am never lonely in my own company. I'd like to be rich (without effort), glamorous (ditto), more tolerant (ditto), mildly famous - for at least those mythical 15 minutes (ditto)… The list goes on by which you can assume I have achieved none of these things. I like reading books and fan fiction and listening to old music - from the era where the melody mattered more than the words, where the musos and singers sounded exactly the same live as they did in the studio - and they didn't feel the need to 'improve' on their hits with excessive superfluous off-key warbling and over-long instrument solos on stage. I like quirky old comedy movies too. If you know who Asta the dog was, you might get some idea. I also like old TV shows and while I'm inclined to be a Luddite about some of today’s new technology, I thank God for DVD boxed sets. I have one of the world's most ordinary jobs but that's OK as it leaves me time to daydream. Despite my faults (and my fault-finding with the universe) I'm basically a reasonably contented person most of the time. Oh, and I'm female - but you probably guessed that. Apparently most fanfic writers are, or so I read somewhere. PS Feel free to comment on anything I've written, even if you hated it, because without feedback I’ll never learn anything. Plus no feedback is SO discouraging! BTW 'The Long Night' is the first 'vaguely like real life' piece I've ever posted. It probably should be the last as well. So why not review it and let me know? I'm brave. I can face the truth...
